Well, AT&T called to already try to upsell my connection and sell a bunch of security options that Cox provides free. Told them I have both a Cox business cable connection that is 50/10 and the new ATT 50/10 and even though with speed test they both show the same Cox loads faster because it resolves domains quicker. His solution was to upgrade to a dedicated 10/10 fiber line that would cost $475/month and whatever it cost over $10,000 to bring it in. Try to tell me it was an investment? Asked him why I would want to spend more money for less bandwidth? Because it's fiber and light is faster than wires. Told him 10 mbps os 10 mbps wether light, copper wires, or sneaker net.

We have fiber at work and it didn't cost nearly that much for us to pay to have it trenched into the neighborhood. Ours is a ton (97/97) faster for less than 2x the price.

I am back from what felt like driving to Texas. Yea, I know, my mother told a million time not to exaggerate. It is a building next door to the National Weather Center down in Norman, OK. The post office has a big building to teach mail sorters how to sort and lose mail just down the road. I was just happy that they have visitor parking available.

I-35 has been under construction on part of the road between the downtown area of OKC to Norman for the 40 years I have lived here. I don't think I have even made the trip without a construction zone and that record continues.

I have a theory that the state hires two brothers to do the construction, and they use I-35 to store the cones. They work on I-35 in between personal projects and going hunting and fishing. I will admit after 40 years of construction they have done a lot, but they are not done yet.

I'm in a residential area so they want a bunch to bring fiber in.
Don't understand about the cost of $475/mo for 10/10.

Changed my DNS on my laptop to Google DNS and guess what...both Cox 50/10 and att 50/10 are the same speed now. Especially when I VPN into work, login to a server, and transfer a file. Also killed the lag between clicking on a link and a web page loading.

Called att. Ther standard DNS is "hard coded" into the att router and is terribly slow. I have to set a different DNS on each device. That means all my wi-fi devices like printers, TV, etc will be using their slow **$&ing DNS!!! Have to keep telling myself I'm saving $65 a month, I'm saving $65 a month.

At least I got the speeds and response times on the att connection to match my cox connection.

I vaguely remember that white stuff. Something unpleasant, I think. Or maybe it was just a dream.

Morning all. Yea, back when Rick still graced us with his charm and wisdom and funny has heck self we all spelled snow with asterisks. Since he abandoned us like Livi and G-man and many others, we just use snow. It is easier to type with no shift button needed and normal two handed typing.

TGIF folks. I guess I am getting out of the grove of the Monday to Friday grind. I have to look at my watch (it has what day it is displayed) to remember what day it is. My money grubbing greedy boss makes me work anytime there is something to do, even News Years Day, or Christmas Eve. Of course when all I have to do is rotate my chair 180 degrees and start a project running and then rotate 180 and back to drinking beer and watching a highly educational and accurate move like Godzilla it is not a major burden.

Used to have a glass front bookcase in my living room that I could see from my desk. It reflected the TV perfectly from my office chair. Now that I watch everything on-demand so to speak I plant it in the Lazy-Boy to watch my shows and movies when not working.

When running things that process have it send an email to my phone when it needs human interaction so can pause the entertainment and take care of it.

He lost all interest in PP after an incident with someone over a mechanic question.

See, that more than makes up for having to do 13 seconds of work outside normal hours. As long as you keep buying your boss beer I think you will get away with a lot.

Sounds like we have a bunch of rain on the way. Woo hoo!

Got back from Doc. Told me not to cash in my 401K just yet.

Only thing that showed up on any of the test was a small amount of plaque, but not enough to be concerned about because my cholesterol and BP were good. Since they had me lay flat and the symptoms went away within 5 seconds that it was a very minor TIA event. Kinda like standing up too fast and getting dizzy. Said as far as all the work ups I was actually doing really well. In fact, in past 6 months have lost 20 lbs.

Put me on a statin to clear what little plaque there is. Having me take a 325mg aspirin daily to thin my blood. And start taking Pepper for a walk more often. Said that would put me way on the plus side of 50% living more than 10 years after a TIA.

Phew, back from running errands.

First I had to go the the HR department and fill out form BS-99-69-caca-hahha and get it signed by the boss, fill it out in triplicate and submit it to the head of goofing off on corporate time. That person was in the basement last time I looked but I guess she escaped and was in the back yard next to the trash cans. That is where I filed the forms the file 13.

Then I went off to the Porsche Dealer to weasel another free calendar. The 2018 "After Sales calendar." Then off to a tag agency to get a renewal for my El Camino tag. The citizens had a petition drive several years ago to change the Oklahoma Constitution to make the legislature have a super majority to raise taxes. They were raising taxes and spending it over and over. So now they are just adding "fees" for everything. My tag cost $5 more for the fees that sure feel like a tax. $28 bucks later I am renewed. The guy next to me was gasping at his tag renewal, it was over $600. Then off to a battery place to get a 9 volt rechargeable battery. It goes in the sprinkler system to keep the settings if the power is off. The old battery was 9 year old.
Then off to the grocery store for some groceries and beer. Done.
Hopefully they won't dock me too much on my paycheck.

Helping the economy with my spending.
