It had all the original owner's manual, tool kit, and was just beautiful. Lots of guys slobbered on it. Lots of the uninformed thought it was just another old 911. I wondered then what that thing was worth. Lots for sure.

Dang, 18. You are getting old!
My wife's youngest nephew turned 40 yesterday. That is just killing his mother. I think my mom was more traumatized when I turned 40 that I was. I did not care one whit, it is just a number, and a young number looking back. It looks like Mrs. Carrera is not wanting to go with me to south Florida in July. That works out great, since I was going to spend the night at my brother's house the first night out. Now I can just take him along instead. I have not spent a week with my brother in many decades. He gets to pay his way so my costs are going to be lower as a bonus.

Fer sure. I really want to get a photo of my car as I cruise by the furthest point in the continental USA. Of course every bit of Hawaii is further south than the Keys, but I can't drive there. I know I will never be shipping my Porsche there just to drive it.
It is possible I may drive to Canada some day, not really likely, but not impossible. As soon as David is out of the area, I can get up to the far northwest. I am still bummed out I missed the drive up to Spokane. I need to hit the far northern states like Montana and the Dakotas and points west while drivin my Porsche. We made it to Portland parade but we cheated and flew up and rented a Hyundai. I have been there, but not in my Porsche.

When I had the 914 planned a trip around the perimeter of the contiguous United States. It would have taken a month. There was no way at that age I could have taken a month vacation let alone pay for the food, gas, and lodging for that long. Don't remember what the estimated miles were.

I just want to hit all the 48 states driving in my Porsche, and lots of other interesting places. I feel certain I would have never gone to Mackinac Island, and the Grand Hotel if it were not for Parade. Another cool hotel in Colorado where some of the scenes from the Shining where the two girls stood. We were there on the 4th of July for the 100th anniversary of the hotel and got eat on the front lawn. There are just tons of cool places to see in this country.
Eating in the Pink house in Savannah, GA was great. The house was deeded to the original owners by the British crown in 1771. It predates the USA. Wait, I just noticed, all three places I mentioned involved eating. Hmmmmm. The best buffet on the planet was the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

Only losing my job and any source of income and having to pay to start up a company from pretty much scratch kept me away. My wife was convinced it was a really stupid idea to go spend several thousands bucks with no paycheck. It still cost me a lot of money since national does not give back any money late in the game for any reason at all.
I am just glad I was at a point in life that we had not one bill, except the ongoing utilities, and insurance and such. I had the reserves to fund half of the startup, and get back in the air with the company. We are not killing it, but we are making more money than I did with a paycheck.

Last year was a central USA Parade. This year far southeast. Next year far southwest. Likely 2021 will be northeast, then back northwest for 2022.

With no top or side windows I never bothered with A/C on the Cobra. I seldom drove it in July or August when I lived in El Centro. Here in WI I just skip November through February. I am not legally allowed to drive it in January with Hobbyist plates unless I pay an extra fee. Not that I would have wanted to Wednesday with it -30* here. The wind chill would have been a wee bit bitey! Not sure the defroster would keep up in that car anyway.

It has a gas gauge that is operated by air pressure. He said after a fill up he has to push a little rubber bulb like the prime button on a 2 stroke engine to equalize the pressure, and then it works fine. That is the stock gas gauge for back then. My 1960 VW bug did not have that option. No gas gauge at all.
