Get off my lawn!
|
It will be another day in the garage for me. I struggled with getting the evaporator box apart. The really long Phillips screwdriver did the trick. I got the top off, and on my bench. The the real struggle began. Getting the motor to let go of the fan. I used lots of penetrating oil, and went on to the steps to modify the box to accept the bigger motor. It was a three hour process of using a drift to push the motor out. I had to build a "box" of 2x4 two layers deep, to suspend the motor and rest on the fan cage. That allowed me to hammer on the drift, and slowly push the old motor out. The new motor is in place, and the fan cage is straightened and ready. Now I just need to get it all back in place and connected.

Guten Morgen
Must feel kinda odd working on A/C stuff when it is like 20°F outside. Better than 104°F though.

Morning all. Currently 33 degrees out and not snowing yet. The scare of major winter storm sent everyone to the store including me. I normally go on Saturday but the idea of trekking out in 6-8" of snow didn't thrill me. But alas I should have gone early yesterday as most things are out of stock now.

It is up to 30 degrees outside. and 66 in my garage. About perfect for working and not sweating.
The AC fan motor is back in place and I am almost done buttoning up the trunk. BUT, of course, as I was tightening the last bolt of the project done, tada, then the 10mm socket fell off the extension, and down into a area by the fresh air blower. So now those last 4 bolts have to come back off, and remove the cover of the fresh air system and start the mystery 10mm vanishing hunt. Golly it was funny when it happened. ![]() ![]() Lunch break is over, back to slaving away.

Let us know if you ever find the 10mm socket.

Yesterday was not so good for driving on our road. The road and our driveway were solid ice and rain on top of it. It took 10 minutes to get the truck out of the garage and pointed out to the road. Saw the road was still untreated and took another 10 minutes to realize I couldn't get back in the garage. Tossed a bunch of salt on the gravel in a path into the garage and an hour later put the truck away. This morning it was frozen shut. Oh bother. Have to take a few things to the dump in the morning.
At least I could work from home yesterday with a decent internet connection.

I think there is some vortex that takes one sock and 10mm sockets.

Someone mention ice?
I've gone through 2 sets of steer axle chains and 3 sets of triples on the rear so far this winter. I'm some sick of ice about now. Ice yesterday and more (worse ice) this morning.

Had we not gotten some snow and sleet to freeze on top of the ice to give it some texture, all the people on our road would have been in a world of hurt had we needed to go somewhere.
Pete, I still don't envy your job.

We should send it all to Rick until he starts posting here again. I know he loves the stuff.

Just got back from the grocery store. Its 24° out, but sunny and no wind.
Wasn't cold out at all and I wore shorts. Since I work at home and only go from my garaged vehicle into the store and them back again just didn't see much value in wasting my time changing. Sure glad I'm not like Bob and complain about the temp inside a garaged car before you can get out of the driveway. Speaking of Bob, He still only gets up to go to the restroom and is experiencing a lot of pain. Says the doctors are trying to ween him off the "adictive" pain pills. When I was experiencing post operative pain my doctor only ask the first time if I was asking for more because they made me feel better. Told him I was only taking them to stop it from hurting. Still refills my prescriptions for Tylenol3 and Hydrocodone when I ask for more. Though it's not very often. The VA sends a lady for 2 hrs a day to help him cook, clean, do laundry, go to the store, whatever. DHS is supposed to be sending someone to evaluate if it is safe for them to send someone to help him as well.

Get off my lawn!

I had to whip out my endoscope and poked the camera down into the area. The socket was right there. It took longer to fire up the endoscope and connect it to my iPhone than it did to find the socket. Easy to use my magnetic picker-upper and back to reassembly. That task is done.
I dropped the transmission fluid 36 hours before, so I had to plug the drain and filler er up, then put on the fill plug, clean up the mess that I always make doing that task, and TA-DA, the car in on the ground, and I can drive it to Moore tomorrow for the club breakfast.

Holy Crap. The last couple of weeks the VP o IT been having us salary workers keep time sheets on Tsheet.com. We clock in and out on different departsments depending on the task. He wants to bill the time to the departments budgets instead of lumping everyting into IT. The last two weeks my jobs have addeed up to around 50 hours.
VP has been sending out chiding emails because the rest of the IT staff (that puts in 8 hours a day in on-site) Tsheets aren't adding up to 40 hrs a week. Aren't managers that don't do anything but come up with different way to manage just great? He is just trying to move IT overhead out to departments so IT can get more money from the accountant President. At the same time making it look like we need more people in IT.
