We were near 80 in early October. Snow now, again.

With the cool weather the Bermuda grass is really slow at growing, but all the shade grass fescue is going nuts. I will likely have to go mow the fescue and just ignore the Bermuda grass. I was planning on doing it yesterday but it was just not a good day to mow. Maybe today or tomorrow.

Hey, it is their policy that you have to take it or loose it. You are entitled to the vacation days just like they are.

We are bidding on a job that we know the company that owned our past company is bidding on. We really want to get that client from them. It will be interesting to see how that turns out.

I just fired up the old computer I have and Windows update or the CIA and extraterrestrials had deleted the video drivers. The monitor came up at 800x600 resolution. GIANT ugly icons and the setting said that was the optimum resolution. So off to to the Nvidia web site and download the proper diver. Back to normal. Now I can do the updates needed.

I love it when MS does an update that kills other stuff off.

Yea, I guess Microsoft decided the cards video drivers were not needed, and used generic drivers.

When I went to control center, it showed that card did not have the proper driver. Oh well. It was a cheap and easy fix for me. It would sure mess up a lot of users.

I am really disliking Microsoft right now. I hate the concept of "rental" of intellectual property. Because when I buy the stuff, it certainly doesn't feel like I'm getting a rental price.

After a line of Apple computers,.I bought an HP for myself. It wasn't cheap. But I still get all these unwanted Microsoft ads and offers. And even though I "bought" Word, I still need to be online (and connected to Microsoft) to use it. Constantly I have big brother watching over me.

My network traffic reduced significantly when I got rid of my work PC. So glad I don't have to run work's sorware no more. Especially the PC.

Doc told me yesterday I should be driving again in 6 weeks. They stopped my home health care last week.

I think it was Adobe that started the monthly rental of software. I can't buy a permanent copy of Photoshop now. We get to pay $29.99 per month forever for the honor of using it. They do have a yearly subscription, but it does not save much if any money.

I have been using Quicken to do my home checking accounts since Ver 4 or 5 and my records go back to 1988. I used to buy a new version every 3 or 4 years. Now I have to just buy a 12 month version and pay for very minor if any real improvements. Mostly they just move menu items around to make it something new to learn. The only thing that stays the same is my password. I have used the same password for my Quicken since 1988.

I really wish I had a button just one selection to convince Windows my giant tower computer is NOT a laptop, and I do not care anything at all about games, social media, tablet mode, or security when using other wifi networks.

Any store bought computer these days comes with adware on them. It isn't necessarily Microsoft's fault, but the manufacturer. Yes, MS is pushing for Office 365 instead of the old versions. We still use on prem versions at work though. Even Office 2019 can still be on prem.

Our yard needs mowed and it is supposed to be 72* tomorrow. Also thunderstorms so that ruins the 72*.

That is one reason I built my computer from scratch. Zero bloat-ware, except the extra crap Microsoft puts on. Most all the garbage is gone.

What is still hard to accept is that with Pandora & Outlook, and the antivirus, and the backup program I have and the anti malware and other things I normally have running all the time I am using 12 or 13 GB or RAM. That is just 5% of the ram, but still, it was just a few years ago I thought having 4 Gig of ram was a lot. That is part of why I have 256 Gig of ram.

This is the pile of knitted hats my wife has made in the last few months. 141 hats for kids. She donates them to a local charity for unprivileged kids. Supposedly they don't just hand them out to every kid, just the ones that need it and are old enough to not loose them.

That's cool of her. Get here more yarn might make less hole digging for you.

Our spare "bedroom" is mostly a bed covered in yarn and projects. With winter coming in a few days the hole digging is about over for a while. We will be covering the Koi pond and draining the fountain and getting it winterized real soon.

I will likely have to mow one more time about Thanksgiving time to get the last of any growth of Fescue and weeds and lots of leaves.
