Yeah I wish. If this one dies its just another Dell that had been in the pool and reset to zero and sent out to me.

My old boss was one to find a used computer for me since it was cheaper. At my old office I had 8 computers, and one Mac, all them slow as heck cast offs. I often took projects home to get them ready on my home computer what was faster.

One day he cam in my office I was leaned back with my feet on the desk. He asked why I was not working. I had all the computers doing things and they were all busy. I told him that several of the computers were not able to run a software package as they were too old.

Of course he had a nice fast computer with a fancy monitor to do the spreadsheets he worked on constantly.

Before we were sold they always bought new CAD computers and passed the old ones down the line. Now they are all the same brand and model and not very good.

I guess as the user of the computer I understand.

If I was management, and knew my employees could be more productive with a faster computer I would be all over faster computers.

Sometimes I wonder if all these modern technologies (computers included) have really made our lives that much better.

On one hand, obviously so.

Yet at the same time, if all these modern conveniences have made our lives so much more efficient, how come we still never seem to have enough time in our days?

One thing for sure, it totally revolutionized photography. It made anyone be able to take photos at a quality level that used to require a professional.

It has make our business a possibility. In the past with the required investment of million dollar cameras and purpose modified aircraft and insane priced equipment only big companies had a chance. Now we can fly a project, and have it done is less time than imagined and we make more money with way less overhead.

it means you can do twice as much work for the same pay per hour.

Are you done yet? Have some more.

You can always go analog. Get out the drafting board and the pens an pencils. No computers needed. Whoops, we have a change here, start over!

I would love to find someone that wants to learn how to make photographic prints in a darkroom and pass on several decades of experience. One of my distant cousins sons best friend's neighbor type of acquaintance was really into learning darkroom printing. In one afternoon I taught him a lot. He was trying to learn by trial and error and lots of errors. I am no genius, but I did it all for over 35 years.

Now I can produce a better end product with 1/20th the investment in less time going with all digital. For commercial work there is no other way.

I am processing a new project we flew in another state. This surveyor know how to put down targets! He should give lessons. It is a white 6x6 X and the very center of the target is black. It makes it super easy to find it, and then see the center and know where to tell the program that is the spot. I love it.

I am the last one if my office who could do that. When I ran the drafting department at Kaiser I had over 16,000 drawings to take care of and only about 2,000 were CAD the rest were all hand drawn lines on paper.

David, you are just a wild and crazy man that knows how to party and have a good time at lunch!

Our trash day is Tuesday, and usually they come by before 7:00 AM. Everyone in the neighborhood but the trash out the night before. Yesterday they did not pick it up until 3:30 PM. I am sure glad I rushed it out to the curb before the night before. At least it was picked up.

I tried to do it after work but now that more people are out and about the real commuter traffic kills me on the way back home.

My freshman year of college they still taught how to draft on paper but were transitioning over to CAD. Still have my old T, triangles and french curve somewhere.

Yea, but it looked better when wrong. Just build the M. C. Escher building. It will be really cool looking.
