Between my iPhone silencing unknown callers, and T-Mobile’s scam shield app, I get very few calls and most of those are still BS. If I get a voicemail that’s a scam I report it in the T-Mobile app and that stops any other calls like that from coming though. It’s amazing.

I just wish there was a way to shorten the stupid message about how to leave a message! In the year 2021, if anyone has not yet figured out how to leave a message, they are too stupid to bother with calling them back.

I went for a quick errand this morning. The main road from my neighborhood to head south is a 45 MPH road for until the first stop, then it is 50 MPH and very rural. Literal farms and livestock are visible on both sides of the road. A pickup was approaching my intersection, but he was not moving very fast, so I went ahead and pulled out in front of him. I got the intersection at the speed limit and was leaving before he got there. 1.5 miles further I saw him in the rear view mirror almost a mile back. He must have been going 35 MPH or slower. I was sure glad I pulled out in front of him. He was in hyper-mile mode in his Ford F-250 pickup I guess. Dang he was going slow. Just a rolling road block.

We get those now and then. Running 40mph on the highway and then a couple people that are afraid to pass so you get a big line of cars behind them. Our law enforcement will ticket them for impeding the flow, but we don't have many officers around when you get a big line.

I finally deiced it was time to delete my contact listing for Richard. It was hard to do, but no point in keeping that contact any longer.

Good laugh for the day......

I received a email from the "Rolling stone cultural council" and this was one line I thought the funniest.

Rolling Stone Culture Council is an invitation-only community for innovators, influencers and tastemakers in the worlds of music, entertainment, food, beverage and cannabis.

I think I will pass. They are marked as spam.

Glen, you can pay a good amount of money to write for them. Don't know why anyone would pay to write an article, but maybe that is why I am not an influencer.

Mrs. Carrera decided I needed to get the shovels and wheelbarrow out of the storage shed yesterday.

One of the new trees has a metal edging ring around it now. I had to use my 3 pound mallet and then abuse a old 2x4 piece of scrap. I put the 2x4 piece on top of the metal to pound it into the ground.

We then filled in several holes in the yard from the damage the city contractors did when they picked up the remains of the two trees we had to cut down after the ice storm. They used a large grabber like the arcade game that picks up a toy. The guy running it was a beginner I guess because he took hunks of our yard with the limbs.

I am just glad he missed all the sprinkler heads. We still have one more tree ring to install, and then set up the fountain in the front flowerbed.

The dogs hated it yesterday because she had me outside slaving away until 5:30 and that is an hour behind normal feeding time. They almost died of starvation, or thought they might.

I likely will have to fire up the lawn equipment on Sunday. Mow the grass one notch lower, and start spraying the roundup on grass in places we don't want it.

Golly it will be fun!

A few weeks back a guy I knew from just after high school found me on Facebook. I accepted his friend request and we exchanged phone numbers. I chatted with him for 45 minutes. He knew my brother as well, and his dad was the guy that taught my brother to build VW engines and a lot about VW auto repair.

My brother said he was making $114 per week take home back then. The guy that taught him to build engines asked to borrow $100 which is like $700 today according to the inflation calculators, for some emergency. My brother said it is the one and only time he ever lent anyone money.

The guy vanished, and abandoned his wife and two kids. The money was gone with him. I can't call that a man, just a guy, the opposite of a man, just a sleazy dude.

That guys son is the man that contacted me. My brother, way back then helped him build a dune buggy and told him that as long as he did not sell it, my brother promised to help him rebuild the engine when it would need it. And he is still going to keep that promise 50 years later.

My phone still has my grandfather's number programmed into it. He died about 15 years ago.

The boss is sending me off to the Twin Peaks car show to show the 911 and clean it up more if there are any random bug hits. Then I have to drink beer and eat in the restaurant and have the "mountain guides" bring the food and beer.

The bad news is when I get home I am likely going to have to mow the yard for the first time in 2021. I might get to put that off until tomorrow, but this weekend for sure the yard gets mowed.

Morning all. Its Monday again. How does this happen? Two days off and most of it spent doing work around the house. Friday is the big day here. Shot number two.

The car show at Twin Peaks was fun. A nice turnout of 25 cars or so showed up to admire each other's cars. The scenery inside was OK as well.

I got the first mowing of the season done yesterday. It was perfect timing as the yard spray folks arrived today, and now I can't mow for 7 to 10 days according to the invoice. It is funny in that long ago I stopped where he was spraying a yard a mile or two away and asked about his rates. He was just starting and gave me a business card and said I could call the number and talk to his girlfriend and she would quote a price.

He was using a three ring binder to keep track of clients. That girlfriend is now his wife, and she is the computer literate person. She has set him up with a professional looking invoice, and I just have my credit union mail a check to them.

My yard was the first one in the area he sprayed, and now he does about 1/2 the houses in my neighborhood. She sends out a text message that they will arrive on a certain date, so we know to be ready. I replied to a text about having them spray for insects as well. She called and we talked price, and she said I was one of the few accounts that did not have a contract to spray. She said I was one of the longest term clients, and I always pay my bill promptly so they know they can trust me.
