Get off my lawn!
|
When we went to Utah's Dinosaur National park, it has a really nice open range road, and we had to stop and wait for cattle to get off the road. I let them have right of way!
I even had to drive through genuine fresh bull crap. When we got to the end of the road there was a very primitive outhouse, and bear proof dumpsters. The trail head is right there for a really cool one mile hike out to a wonderful view. We only saw one other couple, so it was opposite of the Grand Canyon. We got there early in the morning before it got too hot, but as two old out of shape folks it was a long hike round trip. It was just a few weeks before I had my hip replaced, so I was really feeling the discomfort. I have a selfie of the two of us looking like two hot sweaty people and we were not pretending or acting. I think I posted it somewhere on the thread back when it happened.

When we were in Alabama a while ago the local weather report called for a wind advisory, they expected 10 MPH winds and we were laughing. Whooo weee, ten whole miles per hour.
My brother has a lot of trees. They rake, and blow the leaves into a large pile and get them close to the curb. A city truck comes by and vacuums up the leaves sometime in the next week or so and and they are done. I know that would not work real well here. We might get a pile of leaves there but the next day likely they will be blown everywhere, along with the neighbors leaves.

Hey I am a pro at that!
We made another fruit run to Sam's. Uneventful as always. On the way out of the area the entire shopping center is along an access road, next to I-35. The access road is a two way road on both sides of the interstate. I was driving on the access road and saw some econobox generic car and the head of the driver was looking only the other way. The dumb broad driver never once turned her head to look my way. She just started rolling out into the road, so I laid onto the brakes and the horn and was thankful I did not have some idiot tail gating driver behind me. I came to a stop with no real drama, just a hard stop that put all the stuff we bought against the back wall of the El Camino. She just looked at me like I was a real inconvenience, no motion like she was sorry for a bonehead move. I drove on past and we made it safely home. Just another case of me practicing defensive driving. I bet a large percentage of the other drivers on the road would have whacked into her hard. At the next light we came to was another moron staring at his phone as the other cars left him behind when the light turned green. They were going to opposite direction as I was, so I had to wait on him to get his head out of his ass so I could turn left. I am sure the cars behind him had to honk to get him to stop looking at his phone and drive.

It will get him a ticket here if there was a cop, and he was paying attention and felt like doing his job of making a traffic stop and writing a ticket. They must not write many tickets for it, because I see it all the time. Head down staring at the phone and not paying attention to driving at all. Drifting around in a lane from almost off to over the yellow.

Well, if work is slow it sounds like a good nap day. Of course all days are great nap days.
I used to think going to my room to take a nap was a horrible punishment, now it is a goal.

Not sure yet how the day will turn. Working for people on the east coast and they have not sent any emails yet.

Well, now get to work!
I heard from my business partner. He is still in Africa. He only managed to get to 18,800 feet on Mt. Kilimanjaro, and could not stand the altitude anymore had headed back down. He has been spending a lot of time in Florida and 10 feet above sea level. Walking uphill at that altitude has to be brutal. Another 1/4 mile up in altitude to get to the summit was just too much. He should have spent several months in Leadville, CO before trying it.

Sorry, the supply chain problems leave me with just my own supply. I am not good with sharing.

oh sure be that way.
I wonder if drinking on the job counts as stress management after working from home this long?

Just for medicinal purposes. I wonder if that makes it tax deductible as well?

One of my professional photographer friends is closing up his business. Professional photography is just a really tough business. A good digital camera is cheap, and it will take pictures that are "good enough" for the most people. The final photo looks like it was done by an amateur but is is "good enough" and dang near free.
If you have ever opened a menu at a restaurant and see a photo of food that is just a straight on lighting from a flash, and makes you think, I hope the food is better than the photo, it was done by a restaurant owner, or a beginner photographer. Go to a large national chain and look at the menu, the food photos are way better than the food you will be served. That was a real pro shooting the food. It is not easy to take great food photos. My buddy's place shot food at the pinnacle of perfection. He even shot TV commercials with state of the art movie cameras, just like Hollywood used. Anyway, after almost 40 years in business, he is closed. We went over to see if there was anything left we might want. I bought a hand truck dolly for $10. On the journey back I had to turn on the AC, it was getting warm in the car. Love running the AC in January.
