Yeah, that about sums up the AC in my 930.

I removed the aftermarket busted AC from my 911 after I got it. I think it had more bolts holding it in the car than the engine does.

My 911's AC will be fully tested in Palm Springs next June.

The El Camino is back together, and under a leak test now. The new hoses and crimps look good. So far so good.

Well crap again.

This is a frame from a video and it shows the soapy water bubbling away and leaking. This is part of the compressor itself. So if I can find a rebuild kit, maybe I can make it work. If not new compressor time. In 31 years of ownership "I ain't never seen that before!"

Crap, Crap Crap.

So off to find a R4 compressor and one clocked to the proper position. Golly what fun.

I am going to remove the clip, and see if there is a simple O-ring or if it is some complex gasket. Most likely, I will take it back to the parts store and trade it in for a core and pay a couple hundred bucks for a new compressor. I figure I will also get some AC flush, and flush the condenser while in the mode and the system is open, just because it can't hurt. The orifice tube had some debris on it that should not be there. Maybe the compressor is dying and about the shred, so might as well replace it.

I wish there was a simple drop in replacement for the R4 compressor. It was used in all GM cars of the 80s and into the 90s, and in Volvos, Mercedes, and lots of vehicles. It is always a bit noisy, but when it is all it working is will sure make some cold air.

It was mid 50s yesterday and low winds. Today is another clear day with a high of 51.

About to head to the garage and start flushing the condenser, then button it up and start with a series of vacuum to nitrogen purges. And a final leak check overnight.

Hello, my my is Glen, and I am addicted to tools. It has been almost a full day since I bought any more tools.

The AC project is my justification for my addiction. I have used my 32mm and a 27mm and a 22mm as well as my very rarely used 18mm and 16mm deep sockets. Of course the AC flush bottle pressurized with 100PSI from my air compressor, the vacuum pump, and 4 port AC gauges, and other regular tools. All of them purchased in the past, and on hand and ready.

The system is pressurized, and seems to be holding pressure. I stopped to eat lunch, and give it some time to leak. I hosed down with soapy water all the trouble spots for leaks, and saw none.

It is looking good. I bet it blows cold air on this 50 something degree day.

a project is not worth doing if new tools are not needed.

Hey all. Travel to my sis's house this weekend and then work travel next week. Then getting my daughter signed up for her CCW class. Local range won't let you rent without one.

Really? You have to have a CC license to shoot at their range?

When I went to the local range here all they cared about was the 22 bucks, hearing protection and eye protection. I had to show my driver's license. And it was expired! We had applied for the Real ID license but it did not arrive for a few more days.

Of course I am a grey haired guy. As I was signing in, I noticed every guy in the place had a full grey beard. They have lots of guns to rent if you want to spend some bucks. They have a full auto Ma Duce if you really want to burn some money. I did not inquire about renting a gun, I brought my own.

I don't doubt they see a young female and assume total beginner that has only played video games. Little do they know your daughter.

To rent a handgun there you have to have a CC permit. She has been there many times with the SASP team so they know her. They always remind us no rapid fire. She will be looking for a handgun next month. She does not like the PPK as she says the support hand is for moral support with them. She does not like the Ruger PX4 as she can't hit anything with it. The girl that got 2nd at nationals can't hit anything with it either and it is her favorite handgun. Daughter loves dads High Standard Double 9 revolver and she likes out 1911 because she hits everything she aims at with it.

We are stopping in at Brownells in a couple weeks so she can try several out. Boy wants to look at optics for his rifle and they have several dozen setup on stands to look through to see what you like.

1911 is gonna be hard to conceal carry unless she wears a lot of very fluffy taffeta style clothes.

Hitting what you are aiming at is a primary concern and not hitting anything but the target. I can still get a concealed carry permit if I want, but it is not necessary in Oklahoma. The reciprocal permits in other states might be nice. So far I have never bothered to carry a weapon except to the range.

Welp, I think the AC is working as designed again. It is only 67 degrees and partly cloudy today and I am likely the only person running the AC and max cold and blow. It sure works good in these temps, but so does a stock G body 911.

Once it warms up, I will be able to truly check the pressures and performance.

We went to the local PCA club breakfast this morning. The restaurant name is Good Gravy. They have forty, (40) different gravies to choose from for your meal. So, two scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Pretty decent meal. My wife went for the waffles, no gravy, just syrup.

We took down the Christmas decorations last week, but the sling I ordered had not arrived yet, so the box of Christmas goodies sat in the guest bedroom. The sling arrived on Saturday. It has a rated capacity of 10,000 pounds, so I don't think we will overload it.

It is of course overkill for our application, except for the size of it. We can set a typical large storage tub on it, and it is big enough to wrap around it and hook on a carabiner to the rope for the pulley, and hoist it up into the attic with ease. I have a two pulley system, so the weight is halved and it feel very light pull the hoist whatever up into the attic.

That project is done.
