So now you just need to get it broken in and than let er rip!

It is a pretty toy. And plenty fast.

We received 1.71 inches of rain overnight, mostly after midnight. It was 64 degrees and nice outside this morning. The afternoon sun warmed thing up, but for a while it was nice.

More rain last night. With all the rain, some dirt and crud gets washed into the Koi pond, and lots of alga growth. So this morning was clean the filters time, again. The pump is in a box, with four flat rocks that help hide the box and blend in with the landscaping. So off come the four rocks, the plastic cover, and whoa Nellie, there is black widow spider. Plan B, go get the parts cleaning heavy duty rubber gloves, squish one spider. Pull the filters, and I even had to pull the pump out and clean off the bag it sits in to keep debris out of the pump. All back together.

We hired another company to fly a project that was in their back yard, just to save our mobilization costs of flying across the country. They have a nice fair price, and a top of the line very expensive, state of the art camera system. The image is very clear, sharp and matches the ground control dead nuts on. The only issue is they have some sort of horrid color correction. I have never seen pink roads and grass. Yuck, it was ugly. Fortunately with the magic of Photoshop, and very modest humble geek to tweak the color balance just a little, bam, I very nice looking image.

Green grass, and neutral color asphalt and not funny looking roads. Our client will like it a lot.

I attacked my steering column on the Elky again. The tilt function had stopped working, it did not always cancel when the right turn signal was activated, and the cruise control had stopped responding.

So tear into it, way into it, to get to a undersized pin that the tilt function uses to move up or down, drive the pin out, hammer it straight, get it back into place, then rebuild the mouse trap of parts. There is a bearing cage that hold the ball bearings in place that was simply shot from wear, and the balls fell out when I got to that part. I had bought a used bearing race and cage on Ebay and it had been on the shellf for a fre years. So that is replaced and perfect.

A new turn signal switch, replace the cruise control-high beam-and wiper control stalk with a real GM part, and replace the OEM very worn out ignition lock. I had a new GM lock on my shelf for years as I knew the old one was worn out. I could pull the key out when the car was running.

I took the lock assembly to a local locksmith, and had him re-key it to work with my door lock key. So for the first time in 32 years of owning the Elky, I now only need the one key to unlock the door and start the car.

My key ring is now just the 911 key, and the Elky key, and my house key. Just three keys total.

The turn signal works like new (since it is) the cruise works again, and I have to tug a bit to get the key out of the ignition as it is really doing the job.

What a pain in the butt project, but done in a day.

Dont have a house key. Cobra keys stay in it in the garage. Do have parents house keys on a key ring. Most of the time I just have the key/fob to whatever I am driving.

Welcome back, now get to work!

I had a fun morning so far. Go out to out airplane hangar to get the camera off the airplane, as we might have to shoot some of the damage in California from the flooding. That is up in the air, but I wanted to be ready to ship it out.

One part was to stop at my business partner's house to pick up a set of cables. At his house as I was loading up, I saw three dead cicadas. Our black and tan dachshund thinks they are the very best doggy treat ever. I had three of then, and called the dogs over, and both dachshunds showed up, Reuben hesitated about one millisecond, and grabbed one, I offered one to Reece, and she was sniffing it and deciding if she wanted to try it, and Reuben was done with his, and grabbed the second one. I offered the third one to her, and she decided if he wanted it, she better go for it. She ate it but about like I would have, like she ate it only to keep him from getting it. Like eating something I did not really want, just to keep my brother from having getting it.

Something an only child would never understand, only siblings get it.

Golly what fun.

The heat and humidity is nucking futz.I went out to do the yard work at 7:45 AM. I opened the garage door, and the air outside was like a sauna. The dew was HEAVY and I got to work. I came in at 10:00 AM and it is now 70% humidity, 90 degrees and 103 degree heat index. Sweat glands are flushed again.

I made sure the sprinkler system was off yesterday, so it was just dew, and my shoes are just soaked. My exercise is over, time for a shower.

I have a water bottle holder I hang from my belt. I drank 3 bottles of water, I stopped and rested at the 1/2 way point and sat on the tailgate of the El Camino, with a large floor fan and a ceiling fan above blowing on me to cool down.

My old gas powered string trimmer works fine, but it was old enough the head was shot, so I bought the replacement head from Echo that they said was the direct replacement. It really sucks as it was new and improved. I was spending more time getting the line restrung than I was trimming.

I bought an electric string trimmer, that has a neat feature, you poke the line through the head, pull it to be even from each side and push a button and it winds the string up. It works great. It uses the same charger and battery type as my electric leaf blower. Lots of power to do all I need and zero maintenance.

It is up to 100 degrees, down to "just" 50% humidity so the heat index is 123. That is why I mowed this morning when it was a nice balmy 100 heat index.

So many of the record hottest days go back to the 1930s dust bowl days. I think of my poor grandparents and my dad, imagine living a 20x20 one room wooden house they paid $50 for, with no electricity, no running water, so use the out house, and when grandma had to cook supper, light the wood burning stove in the kitchen area and stand over the stove to cook. No thanks.

Still HOT here.

Our PCA region is trying something new. Saturday evening starting at 7:00 we are going to do a night autocross. We are renting lights, having a food truck, t-shirts and hopefully a large turnout to autocross at night. It is still gonna be hot, but no sun screen needed. Sunset is 8:30 and we don't start running until about 8:30.
