I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New year, we did.

I signed up for the 2 day Porsche driving experience just after Parade, at Barber Motorsport, in Birmingham, AL. I hope to get too drive the track at the DE held on Sunday or Monday, and the track days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Driving my old 200 HP analog car first, and then a brand new 911 or Cayman using their tires, gas and with an instructor will be a tiny bit faster I suspect.

We missed the earthquake by one day and being 400 miles North. We missed the plane crash by one day, if we had booked to return from Sapporo to Tokyo one day sooner that might have been us.

Long airline flights will do that to most people. Like a cruise ship, expect to get sick.

Get better soon. We are having cold rain today. over 1/2 an inch and 40 degrees. I am ready for spring!

I understand that. I have a heater in my garage, and when I rebuilt my suspension on my 911 we had an 8 inch snow and a basic blizzard. I will never forget the gut punch I felt walking out to the garage and seeing my beloved 911 in the air with no suspension on it at all and thinking Glen, what have you done. It all went back on wit no major issues, and was the second best thing I have done to the car. It handles so much better. The AC upgrade was the best thing ever done to my car. To drive with my wife when it is 100+ degrees outside and be totally comfortable is just wonderful.

What all are they doing?

I replaced all the Boge shocks with Bilstien HD shocks, not the sport. I replace the torsion bars and went to 21 fronts, and 27 rears, New ball joints, Turbo tie roads, bump steer kit, rebuilt the steering rack, replaced every single rubber bushing with new Elephant Racing rubber, even the anti-sway bar bushings and new wheel bearings. Full alignment with corner balancing and lowered to stock European ride height.

It steers like a laser beam with zero play, and is comfortable on long road trips and my wife will ride in it for 12 hour days. It does great on track or the autocross. I think it came out perfect.

I'm going with the Elephant racing street restoration. Basically replace all the rubber bushings.

"While they are in there" I would urge you to get turbo tie rods, at the very least. My front torsion bars had started rubbing so they really needed to be replaced. A bump steer kit is not expensive and helps a lot if you are going to have it lowered to European ride height. And of course the ball joints can be checked, and only replaced if needed, but likely need to be replaced just due to wear.

I presume they will do an alignment after the work is done. If so, a corner balance and Euro ride height is a good idea. Look at the parts list, personally I would want new ball joints just due to age.
