I had a fun and work filled weekend. Saturday night we met the Tulsa area Porsche club at the German restaurant in Norman. Good food, and great people.

On Sunday, I got to play at the autocross, and then my mean boss's wife had me helping with the final round of Koi pond cleaning.

The real fun was on Friday.

I drove some metal poles into the ground, and then tied another tree stake sideways to help retain the soil from pressing too hard on the wall.

The new flowerbed is done. If I vanish please have the police look in there first!

Just kidding, she needs me around to help fill it with soil and dig holes for the new plants.

It was only 1.6 tons of rock. We had some leftover rock that we have piled in the corner oof the parking area, out of the way. And the pallet it was delivered on. The dent in the grass near the curb is from the pallet with the rock on it sitting on the grass for a few days.

The pallet will go to the curb on next large trash pickup day. The extra rock will be used some on a wall that is just concrete blocks now, and will be hidden by the new rocks. And some given to master gardener's best friend.

So you are hoping she doesn't need organic fertilizer then?

Snowed today. 60 tomorrow. Snow again after that.

I was 74 and clear skies today. Great weather for my honey do's today.

I asked Mrs. Carrera three times if she wanted a sprinkler head inside the new flowerbed. She was sure she did not. Then today, guess what, she changed her mind to want one in there. So I had to go get a taller spray head, and dig under the new wall move the head inside. It will water the garden and the yard. But of course I asked if she wanted it in the middle, and she said yes. So I dug a hole and then she decided it needs to be off center so she can plant a blackleaf elderberry dead center. So dig one more shallow hole, and the sprinkler head is there. No more change orders!

The new flowerbed is where a tree was that had to be removed from ice storm damage. So all of the area is FULL of tree roots. It is really fun too dig through roots.

I covered the hose with chips from the wall build to help prevent damage to the hose when she is planting.

Then she said while you are out here in work clothes, lets see if we can find the leak in the Koi pond. I found it. The glass tube that protects the UV bulb broke. That fried the UV bulb and the connector as well. I just capped the fitting with a 1 inch threaded cap. to be 100% sure that is what was leaking.

For right now, no UV bulb in place but it was fried and non functional anyway. We have a new bulb, but I need a new socket and glass tube as well before I can put it back together. That is a project for tomorrow after I mow the yard.

Now it is time for a shower.

3-7 inches of snow by tomorrow afternoon. At least I still don't have to mow for a while!

Or do work like Glen is doing!

Today is a lazy day inside due to rain. .40 so far nice gentle rain.

I did get a new tube and connector for the UV bulb. Now I need a way to somehow get the broken end of the glass tube out of the housing. I may well have to cut the pipes as the folks that installed it glued everything together. They even glued the connectors to the original pump in place. Long ago I had to cut that and re-plumb that part to something with a quick connect.

And putting the new bulb connector back on is a real pain in the butt. The boss's wife is a mean slave driver, but I will be making the boss pay for my Parade trip and two day Porsche driving experience and even the DE after Parade, so I have delayed gratification.

Does the glass tube screw in? Can you use the old potato method?

No it just pushed into a rubber sleeve. I am worried it has a lot of calcium buildup holding it in place.

The potato trick may work. I will use my bore-scope to take a look and see how much is still in the there.

Babysitting mom today working at her house. I have no problem with the slow agonizing death penalty for phone scammers.

My business partner was waiting at the airport for his layover, and bored. He got a call from a home warranty salesman and he deliberately talked real slow. He kept asking stupid questions and kept the salesman on the line for a long time. Finally the salesman asked what he would do the central AC went out, and that can be thousands of dollars to fix. My business partner said, well, uh I guess I would just call my landlord and tell him to come fix it. For some reason the salesman just hung up.
