The problem with Camber was too smart. On leash perfect. Take off the leash and she would take off.

Pepper's running off is getting less and less so we just need to keep working.
Getting to where I can see the decision of take off click in her brain and can yell "No" stopping her.
They say the best thing is to teach a dog the down command to stop them on the spot.
The idea being you could stop them from running out into traffic.
Had Penny trained for retrieving and a whistle or whistling would stop her in her tracks then she would turn a look for instructions.

Sat in my driveway with pepper on leash for a week of evenings to teach her to not try to run out to everyone that walks by, and especially if they had a dog.

The difference between Pepper and Penny is Penny was more eager to please. Only had to show her something once. Twice at the most.
Pepper, some days she is right on, others she just goes stupid.

Our back yard over the fence neighbors have smart Boxer. They go for walks with no leash. He will not go out in the street on his own, and stays within 15 to 20 feet. He is very friendly and non threatening. If a car is in the road the dog will come get right next to the man, like he is protecting him from a car. He does the same thing for other dogs on a walk. Dogs behind fences are pretty much ignored.

That is how Penny was. She would get out of the street when cars passed.
Because she minded so well, took her everywhere.
When people offered her food, she wouldn't even look at it unless I said it was okay.
Could send her on blind retrieves. She would run the direction I pointed until I whistled.
Then she would stop, turn around and look at me.
Theb could send her of in any direction from there by pointing.
When she got close I would yell right there.
Then she would start looking.
She would pick things up, then look at me to see if it was what I wanted.
If I said no she would drop it and keep looking.

That's how I was able to teach her to fetch beers out of the ice chest in the backs of guys trucks at the flying field.
Got to where I would just tell her to go get Joe (or whatever their name was) a beer. She would get one out of his truck.
Could even tell her to get a beer from Joe's truck and give it to Mike.
Then she would take her frisbee to whomever got the beer for them to pour her a little.

She was such a great dog I still miss her.

Any dog that fetches beers is the best dog ever.

Started at a backyard party where friend was celebrating finishing his new deck grillin and drinkin beers. Also found if you gave Penny a frisbee full of beer she would get really hyper for about 10-15 minutes, then sleep 2 days. LOL

Back from another flight. This time in a Cessna 152. The size equal of a MGB from the 1960s. Pilot and passenger rub shoulders. For an old fat guy with a hip replacement it is a challenge to get into and back out of. Fortunately I am just a limber skinny 21 year old. Well mentally, no wait mentally I am 12.

Good Humpday Morning.

Starting off cool and drizzly this morning.

Get to drive to company facility for the 30 minutes of department meeting.

I can't express how thrilled I am.

Did eye doc visit yesterday. 20/35 left, 20/20 right, retina swelling went down, and no hemorrhaging. Both eyes improved a step and NO SHOT IN THE EYE! Says blurriness and haze in the left eye is due to cadillacs. Scheduled for cadillac surgery in June. Right eye has already had the cadillac surgery, had to stop the hemorrhaging the lhe left eye before they could do the cadillac surgery. Then will have to get new glasses!

Coming up on the 5 year checkup for the drug study I got in for retinopathy treatment. They tested 3 drugs in the study. It was a blind study (no pun intended), the drug I was randomly put on is the one that got the best result. The study was for 2 years and the doc says the drug I was on they have movied to using it on all their patients.

Also thought it was interesting that my eyesight improved after the TIA stroke event. Hope it's not a thing like race cars, they start running better right before they have a major breakdown.

Yea it is great to have another rainy day. We can sure use it. While I was airborne yesterday I noticed how many ponds are back to full. You can see things starting to green up big time.

When I lived in CA a friend of ours got his license and decided to take his wife. They were both very, um, large. They could not get the doors closed. Probably a good thing because I don't know how they could have taken off. They were either over the gross limit or they had no fuel on board.

Sunny again today. I get to go to the DMV office because I have tried several times to register the motorcycle online and after putting all the info in for both my wife and I and click submit 5 pages later it says there are technical difficulties. At least I get off work early to do it.

I have been airbrushing a lot for the boy's USS Johnston and my hands are taking a beating. I do know I hate the new acrylic stuff to airbrush. It just doesn't spray like the real paint.

When I was in school we had a beagle/mini border collie mix. I think if you trained him to fetch a beer he would keep it for himself. When the guys were building on the storage shed/shelter/patio deck he would beg for beer.

Pete, s*** gone yet?

Their purpose in life is to make you miserable, secondary is to take your money when you are miserable.

Usually the local one here isn't too bad. The one I had to go to in CA was a 2 hour wait.

I hope not. If so, there are a couple others within 20 minutes. I just want to get the stupid thing registered.

Made it thru another IT Department weekly meeting without falling asleep.

After seeing what a friend had to go thru getting his license renewed after letting it expire, vow to always keep mine up-to-date!

The only snow left at the house Brent is a small pile were i plowed it up and on the north side of the house were it slides off the roof. That pile runs the length of the house and is about a foot and a half deep still.
We just started grading the roads this week and there's still plenty of snow to see along the edge and plenty still in the woods.

53* and raining right now. The grass should start greening up soon.

Think most of what people call grass has died off in my yard and does not seem to be returning. Liking my grandma's idea years ago of just paving and painting it green.
