One of the things I can do with the Durametric is recalibrate the air suspension ride height. In doing so tell it that the ride height is 35mm higher than it actually is and it will lower the ride height 35mm. Takes a whole 10 minutes. They want almost as much as the Durametric cost to do the same thing with the Porsche tool, PIWIS IF your can find a dealer with the PIWIS that will set the suspension at the Cayenne GTS level on an S or a Turbo.

It ain't cheap, even doing it yourself.

I just replaced all the rubber bushings, torsion bars, shocks, ball joints, turbo tie rods, and had the metal parts powder coated. I don't remember what I spent but it was worth it. The old rubber was so old it had worn and cold flowed to the point that the torsion bars were rubbing on the A-arms and would have broken by now if I had not done it.

Sounds like a visit to La La Land is on the agenda. Don't mind taking pain killers. Much prefer their effects to the pain. After about a week on them I can't sleep though. One of the home nurses gave me a tip for when that happens. Read some Playboy magazines. Told her I was talking about sleep NOT going to bed and she said try reading them. Amazingly enough it worked, conked right smooth out.

I have never had any real problem going to sleep. I figure if I ever do I will get the book Ivanhoe. I tried to read that in high school for a assignment in English class. It would put me to sleep in seconds. It was better than any sleeping pill. I had to get a cliff notes version to do a book report.

When I started driving I knew nothing about fixing cars. Once I started hanging with car guys they taught me how to do repairs and upgrades. I don't have the money to pay a wrench for fixing our vehicles. Plus, I can not worry about the inconvenience of not having the car whilst being repaired. If I get stuck I have guys around me that will help.

This isn't a dig on David. Everybody's situation is different. If I was closer to any of you I would always offer my assistance.

Besides, you guys that know computers still amaze me.



The wireless mouse looks sweet but pretty sure it would end up lost. I just bought a cheap one.

I do some things but most of the time I just don't have the time to do it right and it makes sense to pay to have it done.

One of my wife's friends came over a few months ago to visit. I was in the garage tinkering on some car project. My wife brought the lady out to see my garage and the AC setup and the lift. She commented that I was "lucky to know how to do all the repair work." My reply was a standard, I have no innate knowledge of working on cars. I learn as I go and figure it out. If I screw it up, I just do it over until it is right. No one taught me, I just kept trying to figure it out until I got it right.

I have done plumbing work and I learned I hate that with a passion.
I have done electrical work and I am OK at simple stuff, but nothing extreme.
I have done carpentry work and learned I have no talent and kinda suck at it so I avoid that.
I put in the central vacuum system in our house by myself.
I put in the sprinkler system in our yard by myself.
I built my computer from a pile of parts I ordered on-line. I built my first computer back in the DOS 3.3 days. (1987 I had to look that up)
I built my mother-in-law's current computer from parts ad set up the remote VPN so I can fix any problems she has with it.

There are only 4 innate skills we are born with.

1.) Stick things in your mouth.
2.) If it's squishy smear it around.
3.) Hit things with other things.
4.) Throw things.

Glen, that's about how I approach things as well. Most of the stuff I learned from doing it.

What I don't get is how I found the time to do anything when I was working 50-60 hour weeks.

I really want to build a drum room with soundproofing. The garage is spacious but loud and very "boomy".

Okay...The seat back cover fell off the new Cayenne.



It would be easy to glue the one top clip holder that came unglued, but the two bottom clips are broken so the clip part that holds the seat is GONE. That's probably why the top one came unglued and the seat cover fell off.

Cannot get the bottom clips from Porsche or anywhere else, they are part of the seat back. Which is $300 from Porsche. Salvage yards only sell the entire seat for $600.

So am using some scrap thin sheet metal and making a T shape to screw onto the top of the two blocks on the base of the clip that is left with a tongue bent as shown to replace the plastic clip part that broke off. It should clip over the tabs to hold the bottom of the cover same as the plastic clips.

Coming unglued seems to be a feature on the 2008 and older in hotter climates.
