most of what I have to do this weekend is just yard chores. The worst is cleaning the gutters out before fall.

I will be playing yard boy this weekend. The bosses wife insists I mow and edge and I get paid in ways that don't involve money. Nothing the IRS can collect taxes on, YET!

I have a weird gas leak on the 911 that I gotta trace down. It has a strong gas odor if I start it, and it seems to be up front. I am guessing a hose in the fuel pump area. So it gets a turn on the lift.

Careful Glen, the guy that bought my 914 smelled gas for 2 weeks, then it burned up.

Going to play in the yard as well. Niece's boy is a no show.

Well, this is a traditional BBQ weekend, so Carrera-flambé is well within Labor Day holiday norms.

Got my fall travel schedule nailed down. Between work trips, Rennsport, and fall break I’m going to gone every other week for the next two months.

Also heads up David, looks like I’ll be in Seattle Nov 5-9.

I remember doing that when I was younger...and I gave a 5hit about a career.

Now days it’s nice to put a couple of months between each trip.

The begining of my labor day is to get the 911 on the lift and investigate the source of the gas smell. Some gas leaks a re a challenge to find as that smell goes everywhere so fast. If you can't see the wetness or the dripping, it just tighten up every fitting possible.

Then on to yard work. If I have any energy left I will take the Elky to the car wash and clean up the engine.

Well crap. Insert very long string of profanity. Repeat.

The leak is at the hose for the fuel pump. "while I was in there" I went ahead and replaced the fuel pump with one I had in stock. It is the original pump, that I sent back to Bosch and had it manufactured. They claim it is as good if not better than OEM.

The pump was not the source of the leak, it is the hose that goes from the pump, to the tunnel to the back of the engine. In just looking around I did not see a connection, but I sure home there is one. So I will order the hose from the pump to the tub, and the return line as well. I likely will replace the one from the tank to the pump as well. That is gonna be a LOT of fun!

Golly old cars are great!

Happy Saturday! We have a pot luck / BBQ to go to this afternoon, and we’re hanging out for a bit with our son & DIL tomorrow (Saturday). Then, it’s back to retirement “work” on Saturday. I think I need a nap.

Don't know how you keep track with all the Saturdays in a row like that.

Maybe you could name your days of the week by someplace you like the have lunch or dinner, like Chilisday, or Quiznosday. If you do McDay is not permitted. You don't want to give the clown any ideas.

Or maybe just go by meals, Meatloafday, Tacoday, Wassabeday, etc.

Or maybe you could use Greek and Norse Gods, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.

We do have Taco Tuesday, but that’s on one of the Saturday evenings.

I celebrated Wednesday with my day off to replace the water pump on the Elky. So today I get to play bookkeeper and paper pusher "at work". And then figure out the estimated taxes and how much money our partner Uncle Sam gets. He never contributes any work or money he just takes.

Happy Labor Day! Except for retirement-trainee Jeff! It’s been a nice Saturday here. The kids left with full stomachs and smiles on their faces. Time for me to park my butt outside and relax. Hasta la vista.

Happy Monday, er Tuesday. A short work week and we get some rain. 1.81 inches so far and more coming. The east coast and gulf coast will be happy to share some rain. We had a unusually cool and wet August and everything is still green and growey.

We had lots of rain off and on again over the weekend. Last 48 hours was just under 6 inches.

Got the swaybar links replaced on the truck, bled the clutch on the Cobra and with the fine black silt that was in the fluid I wonder if the master is going bad. Worked on the mower and we smoked a bunch of meat between rain and put in vacuum bags for the winter. Oh, we ate some too.

We had a strong enough wind that it blew the grill/smoker over again. I had a 2x2 stake in the ground that it was tied to and it snapped it right off. Others lost some mature trees so it could have been worse.

I now have a steel fence post 2.5" down in the ground. If it moves that I wont care because we have other issues at that point.

Back at my old bachelor pad house I had a gas grill that ran off of natural gas. It was great to never have to worry about running out of propane. I used to grill a lot. There was a wonderful, small neighborhood grocery store with a butcher shop and a custom butcher there. I was in there many times per week as is was just in-between work on home and right on the way home. I would stop in and often the butcher would call me over and tell me he has a steak he will sell me for 1/2 price because it will "age out" tomorrow. It was always a wonderful aged to perfection super tender steak. If I had a hot date for Friday night and was having a young lady over to cook for her, I always asked the butcher the same question. If he had a date with Christie Brinkley which steak would he serve her?

Since we both had equal odds of getting a date with Christie and she was the hottie we lusted after, it made the conversation faster.

Morning all. Most of the chores got done. A few took longer than they should.

My wife calls that "male optimism" when asked how long will that chore last, the expected finish time is rarely met.
