Welp, Pete, today is my annual "final mowing of the year." The Bradford pear trees are still full of leaves, as are the dang Elm tree in the neighbors yard. I will get it mowed and then drain the gas from the mower for the year when I am done today. It is supposed to be mid 60s, so I will not get real sweaty, just a little dirty from the leaves and grass getting mulched.

Phew. I got the entire yard mowed. The trees have still have lots of leaves, but that should be just raking.

Then the boss's wife made me wash her car. Then the boss made me wash his El Camino. I figured that deserved drinking some of his beer. It is 69 degrees, so I for sure did not need a jacket. The leaves would get together in a gang, and go for a rumble and of course the wind would be blowing to the east, right into my garage that faces west. It was like a coordinated effort for the leaves. And I get a nice variety, oak, lacebark elm, sweetgum, catalpa, and Bradford pear and some others. All of them were invaders. I had to close the garage doors to sweep up a bath of leaves, and as soon as I pulled a car in or out the leaves attacked again.

The torture continues. The bosses wife made me take her into a Hobby Lobby on Black Friday. It was horrible. Worse than can be described in words. Sob.

It is a good thing I am a macho, macho manly man. I survived.

Family sent enough fixins home yesterday gonna get 4 more meals out of it!

Oven roasted turkey, sausage dressing, sweet taters, masheded taters, green bean casserole, peas, carrots, dinner roles, cranberry salad, punkin pie, and chocolate ice box pie. The only thing missing was green salad.

Told them all I needed was turkey, dressing, smasheded taters, and cranberry sauce to make sammuches, but got everything else as well.

The Thanksgiving holiday is when I put up my Christmas decorations...I hang a big wreath on the gable over the garage door.

Last night, I ordered a gift on the interwebs. Filling out an online form nearly wore me out. I hate holiday shopping!

I still need to mow the yard. Gotta build my energy back up...

I do virtually all my shopping on line. We have days where the USPS, FedEx, DHL, and UPS leave us a package on the porch.

They all seem to be closing.

Noticed just last week there was an Amazon truck dropping off packages.

Glad I grew up when I did. There were drug stores (with a lunch counter), grocery stores, 7-11s, TG&Y dime stores, hardware store, Otasco, 3 Hobby shops including one for just trains, farbric store, a branch library, bike shop, restaurants, 2 swimming pools, Lumber yard, Fire Station, Post Office, bank, 3 full service gas stations, Schools, 2 big parks, etc all within a 2 mile bike ride without ever getting on a main street. Even though we were in OKC, 2 blocks from our house was a dairy farm. And 4 vacant lots behind our house. Just didn't know how good we had it.

All the hobby shops, etc went out of business with the advent of the VCR. Families spent their hobby money on a VCRs and renting movies. Stereo/TV stores and Movie rentals replaced the hobby shops. I dreaded going to the mall because it was mostly clothing/department stores like Sears, JC Penné's, Monkey Wards, Rothchild's, etc.

Some have movie theaters, but since I've gotten my 65" TV and surround sound, haven't been to a theater in years. Think the last time I went was to see the 2nd Matrix movie. However I did ride my 10 speed 65 miles to see the first run of the first Star Trek movie while in college.

We still go to a movie theater 3-4 times per year.

Phew, the slave driving bosses wife made me play plumber today. I don't think ANYONE likes plumbing work. I sure hate it. At least it was just my own bathroom sink or lavatory. Our bathroom has two lavatories and each one has it's own medicine cabinet, and storage area. My sink er, lavatory has been draining kinda slow. So time to pull apart the drain trap. It had a nice collection of gunk that washed off pretty easy with the back yard hose. Put it back together, all is well and drains like it should.

Then I had to go outside. It is 70 degrees and sunny, so it was not an real arduous task. The faucet that I hook the hose to for washing the cars with was not flowing at the proper volume. I got that taken apart and fixed. Now we are back to 18 gallons per minute blasting out of the hose. It is well water that I use to wash the cars. No city water for my cars!

Now my next task is to clean the filters in the koi pond. Work work work work work.

Still...haven't found...what I'm looking for... the Cayenne key.

Did find Pepper's kong and an the full size Whamo Gum-a-bone frisbee that disappeared. They quit making the Whamo dog frisbee when I had my first golden over 20 years ago. It's made from that soft rubbery stuff dogs can't chew up, Gum-a-bone, but is still an official Whamo full size frisbee. Got it when Penny was young. She didn't chew it up. Penny loved catching it, and would set it beside me when I was eating instead of begging. It also lasted all the way thru Camber too. Camber like me to roll it instead of throwing it. Pepper...She lost it. Found it in the corner of the yard, behind some bushes and half buried.

Forced to break down and order one of those $500 keys from the dealer. No locksmiths in town can cut or program newer Porsche keys. Understand there is a Porsche dealer in Denver that will cut and program the cheaper keys off the internet instead of charging so much for a pre-cut factory key. Little too far to be economically feasible. Maybe if I was going skiing or traveling in that area. Haven't been in that neck of the woods since college.

My neighborhood joined one of the local area neighborhood on-line things like Facebook. Mostly Ads of course. Couple of weeks ago one of those get off my lawn old farts complained about neighbors dogs getting out. Since then there have been posts about dogs that have gone missing. On close by neighborhood areas a couple of miles away people have posted found dogs that matched the missing dogs. Before that old farts post hardly anyone posted about their dog going missing. Makes me wonder.

My next door neighbor grew up on a farm and has always let his dogs roam free. He did walk several houses in either direction popper scooping though. His Dalmatian taught Camber the neighborhood was her yard and couldn't let her out much. His only dog now is and old dachshund he inherited and she never leaves her yard. Pepper tends to sniff her way south couple of houses south where another golden lives.

Mom used to leash the dogs to the tree out front with a couple of 20ft leashes leashed together. Pepper freaking wriggles out of the collar! Think I need to get a harness. Gotta use one to have her hangin as a service dog anyways.
