Yea, the LA river is a purpose built drainage ditch, get the water out of the city in a hurry pure function, not pretty project. It is the Canadian river that flows from Colorado, into New Mexico, the Texas panhandle and in to Oklahoma. The founding fathers of the early OKC area had astonishing vision, and some of the rich and powerful got richer by building two large lakes to store drinking water. Those lakes flow into the downtown area, and they renamed that area the Oklahoma City River, and just out of the metro area it goes back to a mostly sandy drainage river that is just a few feet deep. It flows into the Arkansas river and into the Mississippi and of course the Gulf of Mexico eventually.

My '69 Coronet convertible was the same. Top down it had worse front end lift than top up. It was a fun cruiser though.
My favorite movie scene in the LA river was from Gumball Rally with the Ferrari and Shelby goofing around. My least favorite is the new Gone in 60 Seconds where the GT500 wouldn't top 110 without nitrous. Really? What kind to turn did THAT car have for a motor? Rain and slush falling from the sky here. 45 minutes north of here it is snow and freezing rain. Might be an interesting drive home. Happy end of 2018 to everyone. Air combat Christmas party tomorrow. It seems being a real (non military) pilot has no bearing on your success in a dogfight. Some people have the knack and others don't.

The 71 Satellite Sebring Plus was happiest cruising down the highway at 80. Cruising 60 or higher in the rain no water would come in the open sun roof.
My mechanics said it had adjustable suspension and was setup for getting out of the hole. Said with more meat on the back they could lower the front and it would keep it from floating and it would still get out of the hole. Figured getting out of the hole would be better than top end for a teen. Think we been doing that Street Outlaws thing here in OKC a lot longer that the TV series,

Got down into the high 40s last night for the first time this year IIRC.
Not 'sposed to do that here, that's why we put up with the gozillions of people in the way all the time. If the weather's gonna get sheety I might as well move! |

The El Camino moves along just fine up to the legal speed limit on the turnpikes of 75. If I have to pass some 18 wheeler and get going a little faster it starts to vibrate some. The speed limit in parts of Texas is 85 between Austin and San Antonio. The Elky just does not like those speeds. The front end starts to get light and the drive train has a vibration. The 911 loves cruising at 85 and can do it with ease. But the 911 can't haul horse manure and concrete blocks very well. That is why I have one of each.

We've had a day or two where the low was around 40. It warmed up to around 60, and mostly sunny, so overall not too bad.

Whew, back home at 5:57 pm from our wild crazy New Year’s Eve party time. We went to a local pizza joint and gate some pizza and brought home a bunch of leftovers. When one orders a large pizza for two people there is some good leftovers. I will celebrate the NEY with a Erdinger Dunkle beer. Mmmmm. Good. Burp.

I'm ordering pizza for dinner. With or without a gate. Happy New Year!

Yea, that pizza gate conspiracy was so stupid it was worse than Bigfoot or unicorns combined.
We just went to an Oklahoma chain started in Stillwater, OK in 1957. We get the original style one that is just yummy. They don’t deliver so ya gotta go there and eat it or get it to go. We just ate it there, and brought the rest home. The chain was started in Stillwater, but sold franchises in several states in this area.

Happy new year all!
Down into the 30s here tonight. Snowed up in north Phoenix today! It was snowing in Friday in Sedona while we were there. Gorgeous, but so cold!

I was told that it hit 50C north west of here two days ago when we hit 46C. It’s been over 42C for the last two weeks and we’ve got more of it forecasted before it’ll cool down to 40C on Sunday.

It is a bit nippy outside in middle America. 22 degrees with a 20 degree wind chill. We have a winter storm watch until Friday. Some possibility of Rick's favorite crap. This weekend it is supposed to be back to the 60s. The storm Sid is having is on it's way here. We will forward it on to Rick. I sure wish Rick would return.
