Last Sunday I placed an order for some items for my cars from Amazon. Two oil filters for the Elky because they are in my shopping cart from the last oil change I did. I don’t need the new one for another month or so. One item I really wanted, ATE gold brake fluid so I can do my annual brake fluid change on the 911. The oil filters arrived on Monday. The brake fluid came yesterday afternoon.
The more you want an item or need it, the slower it is shipped. If it is just something for the shelf to be in inventory for use in a month or more, it arrives overnight. All with standard prime shipping.

I spent most of the day installing the new LED brake lights. Actually the LED lights are a breeze and almost as easy as just changing the bulb. The problem for me was my way of doing things. To keep the cruise control working properly, so it shuts off if the brake pedal it pressed. It requires adding a pair of ballasts to create the resistance needed to get the CC to see the draw. The instructions are straightforward, but I don’t want the two ballasts flopping around, held in place by just the wires.
So typical of my way, I built an aluminum bracket to hold the ballasts, and coated the back of the ballasts with thermal paste. They will stay cooler, and in place.
The second issue was my 911 has two pressure switches for the brakes. The one in front is right next to the cruise control module. The wire harness he provided has two straight connectors and they will not fit in position. So I had to cut those connections off, and put on 90 degree flag connectors in place. Then get the bracket to fit. That took a while.
All is done, and it works great.

Had to replace 3 bulb housings on the Cayenne Turbo because they messed them up soldering in resistors to the the propder load on LED bulbs thay had put in. I replaced the fixtures and just put the stock bulbs everywhere they had put LED, My lights all worked much better.

Now you can get LED bulbs that are pre-loaded to use as replacements, at least for the 928 and Cayenne.

The brake lights I put in are a grid array of lots of bright LEDs. I did not count but I would guess 80 to 90 bulbs mounted on a custom board that attaches to a 3D printed frame that hold the board in place. The resistor is only needed if you have cruise control. He engineers a cool system.

The bulbs they put in the cayenne were not correct. Sometimes they worked sometimes they didn't and sometimes they went off and on. I just wanted my lights to work so I replaced the broken fixtures and put the bulbs back in everywhere that it was supposed to have. Wanted to make sure everything was actually worked before going LED. Haven't ever bothered to order the LEDs, maybe the next time one of the regular bubs burnout.

LED lighting in the Z is a future project for me. Glen, I'll bet they are a big improvement over the original incandescent bulbs.

We just got home from Dim Sum brunch with our son, DIL, and DIL's family. They're a fun bunch. Even if our son and their daughter weren't married, I'd still enjoy hanging out with that family.

Jim, they are a LOT brighter. Parked in the garage they will turn the entire wall behind me red. With stock bulbs it was just two reddish areas.
Mostly I did it for driving in FloriDUH. I figured it must help.

Yep, the Cayenne came from Flooriduh so must a been a reason.

I am 100% sure there are no bottle caps in my car, either car. I really don't have much to blame on previous owners after owning the El Camino for 28 years and the 911 for 24 years. I did recently finally remove the stereo amp from under the passenger seat of the 911. I used it for a long time, but the wires that ran to and from it ran under the passenger side carpet. When my wife would put her purse on the floorboard with her cell phone it the purse, the cell phone would cause the amp to make a horrible clicking-thumping noise as the phone was just idle in her purse. With the amp out of there, just the sound of music is all I hear. Maybe back in the the 1980s stereos needed that amp. Mine sure does not.

No doubt, if the CSI folks get hold of either of my cars, they will find my DNA in the form of blood & sweat, hair and skin in all areas, top and bottom. Heck my initials are on several components. If you lift the smuggler's box lid on the 911 the AC evaporator is of course in there. It has a label with the dates of the system upgrade, and my initials. The Elky has my writing on the accumulator for it's AC service dates. Same with the computers for the fuel injection, and some other components.

Yesterday the bosses wife made me go outside on a 64 degree clear blue sky day and dig more holes for her. She would put a new plant in the spot where she wanted the hole. So like I just went around moving the plants, and digging the holes where the pots were before I moved them. A large area on the west side of my driveway was all grass to be mowed when we moved in. Now it is all garden. The even bigger area in front of the garage was all grass, now it is all garden. We even built a new garden area two years ago on the other side of the sidewalk to the front door that was grass, now a raised flowerbed, in the east side of the frnot yard is a flower bed on former yard. The koi pond is surrounded by flowers. We have planted 5 trees of bushes in the yard. So instead of mowing I just more to edge.
It does look really nice and we see people stopped in front of the house just looking at the flowers from the sidewalk and the street.

Nephews boy that now identifies as a girl did not bring back the rototiller he borrowed. Said he sold the pickup and was going to borrow his brother's pickup this weekend. May never see it again.

Sure woul help getting rid of that waterline mound across the front yard. Just don't think as much clay is going back in that ditch as came out.

It is looking like we will get to May before we turn the AC on for the first time this year. It is currently 70 and rain is likely for the next three days. The house has yet to get to the temperature that the AC thermostat would turn on the AC even if I went to AC mode.

I don't think we have ever before made it to May without a few hot days and needing AC. I sure am not complaining. It does not affect my electric bill since I average my usage, divide by 12 and that is my bill. Well actually the electric company does all the math for me, and they just draft my account when needed. I do the same for the natural gas bill.

They both send me an email that the bill is due, and just a few hours later send me a email that the will draft the account on a certain day. Then my credit union sends me an email that they will send the amount on a certain day and then they send me one that it has been paid. So I get 4 emails about each bill. I just delete them.

My business partner spent a week up in Washington state. He was laughing about how many coffee shops they have, and a line of cars at every single one. Then he was astonished how expensive things are up there. He would get a cup of coffee, and a breakfast burrito and it was 16 bucks. Around here that might cost 6 bucks. He said almost every meal was 30 bucks and up, even for a lunch.
