I keep getting calls about being eligible for extended vehicle warranties. They won't extend the warranty on the Cobra. Jerks.

Yea, I get those fairly regularly. I really wanted an extended warranty on my 1980s vehicles but the jerks just hang up when I tell them what I drive.

I had a call on my cell phone today. From Minco, OK (yea right) population 1,632. Anyway someone in a huge call center wanted to know if I was interested in selling my house. Sure, right after I sell my 911 and El Camino. The house is for sale at 5 million. Well OK, if someone offered 4 million I would likely take it. The 911 is 100 grand and the El Camino is 50 grand.

That will happen when the company that called moves to Minco, OK and opens a business.

I have to answer all my call calls since it is my business line.

I generally don't answer unless they are in my contacts list, but sometimes I do.

Might be in the 508s this weekend. Time to get the car done.

Weeeeee.

I stopped at the Porsche dealer to drool on new stuff. They have my car up there for sure. A 2020 911 Turbo S. White with a Merlot (almost perfect Burgundy) interior. I could adapt to that radical change if forced. The price was the issue. Only 206K OUCH.

They also had a Tycan Turbo S. Look at the gigantic calipers and rotor. Those are 21 inch wheels!

We did get a ride in it. It is already sold, so they try to limit the miles. He did not want to do a full launch control blast from zero. He did do a rolling start. We were moving at 30 and the wow, OMG wow fast. What a rush. The Tycan has a two speed transmission. He pointed out a shift as we were driving along at normal speeds. He said that in a full acceleration run it hits 115 and then shifts and a second burst of power hits.

Really cool toy, but it too was 206K. It was black so no go for me.

My buddy mechanic, the shop foreman was in the showroom and said hello. I asked if there is any service on them and he said that is the only one they have seen. He said in reading and training on them the brake pads have to be replaced every 7 years. Not because they are worn, but they are so big they don't wear, and they age out. I bet they are more than the $12 ones for my El Camino.

Notice it's got holey rotors like my BoxsterS had. They got a nice blue tint to them when I autocrossed.

Geez, I’d pay a bit more to make sure my rotors didn’t have holes in them. Moth-eaten brakes...iAy caramba!

The holes are mostly to dissipate water they also cool a little bettwr. But it is mostly to take care of water.

Had a 944Turbo that boiled brake fluid and warped rotors. Tried all different kinds. The best were cryotempered slotted rotors and yellow pads with super blue fluid.

One of the guys I worked with many years ago was married to a lady that was the sales rep for Kimberly Clark. She would go into stores and pick up boxes of crushed facial tissues, or damaged packages of toilet paper and tampons. The trunk of her car was always full of that stuff. She did give me many boxes of snot rags. She always tried to pawn off the tampons and said many people use them to wax their cars. I told her no way in hell was I going to use tampons to wax or wash my car. The second I did every buddy I have would just happen to stop by and see me using tampons on my car and I would never hear the end of it.

14 hours? Where ya headed this time? That long of a flight should get you about anywhere. Unless the metal can is a train.

We made another round trip to Enid yesterday to see the MIL.

I got to figuring that in the 28 years of ownership, the Elky has likely been up there 5 times per year at a minimum. So 140 round trip to Enid in the same car.

I don't use the GPS or a map for the trip!

They are building a BUNCH of new wind power generators. 100s of them and there were already a lot in the area.

The Dubai picture reminds me that Spring is here! Last couple of weeks been hearing song birds.
The shade grass is starting to green up as well.

Gotta get me a new bird bath. When my sister was here a few weeks ago she took mine. She gave it to Mom and it's light blue. It don't match nothin around here and they are not THAT expsensive.

The mean old boss's wife made me dig and help cut dead stuff in the garden this morning. It was mid 70s and just wonderful temps. An bit breezy early on, but this afternoon was spectacular. So I decided to wash the Elky. We have had a pattern of rain or mist or crappy weather every few days, and then really nice weather. I just could not see washing it if it was going to get slimed in two days. Well the next week is looking dry, so wash time. I even washed the engine down, and vacuumed and cleaned the interior.

One project that I kept ignoring was the center console tray. Now think back to the 80s when cars had a big center tunnel and just carpet with no cup holders or center consoles. Yea, like that, well back in the early 1990s every auto parts store had a selection of the cup holder - stuff and junk tray. I bought a color matched one way back then. and have used it all the time.

I stopped to look at it and dang and tarnation it was gross. Year of spilled spots of spilled drinks, and grime. So I lifted it out, soaked it in Super Clean, and hosed it off. Wow, it looks like new. I even threw away a pack of matches I had carried around for 25+ years for unknown reasons. Mostly because I did not see them there in plain sight because they were always there. Out of curiosity I tried to strike one, and the cardboard stick part just crumbled. If I hit the tip with a lighter, it would burn, but not very well. I decided it was time for them to go to Mt. Trashmore landfill.
