I heard on the news that just a very small percentage of homes in England have AC. I bet that changes in the near future.

Well we did break a record. For just the 7th time since records were kept, (130+) years we hit 110. So only 6 times before has it been that hot. The all time record is 113, and it is supposed to be cooler today, just 104 or so.

Sure glad I work indoors. I remember one July wedding at a local park. No doubt the bride went there in spring and thought it was a lovely setting. And then bride brain set in, and she scheduled a July wedding in Oklahoma. I told them up front I will not be there in a coat and tie in those temps. To top it off, the bridesmaids dresses were all black. One of them started wobbling and I had to catch her with my camera gear dangling from my neck and whacking her in her back. It was better that smashing her head on the hard ground.

It almost cool today, only 92. So 18 degrees cooler. A faint chance of rain.

Our area only hit 92 because of cloud cover, and we actually got a trace of rain. The airport is the official site of the weather, and they hit 100. Some cities only hit 89, and got a little more rain. Most of our rain evaporated before it hit the ground, so it is called virga. Weather geeks have a name for everything.

I need to do that as well. When we had the gutters replaced they were resistant to putting the guards on because we had a huge spruce next to the house and we would have to clean the needles either way. The spruce died so it is time. Though my wife did get a gutter robot a few years ago and it actually works pretty well. LIke a gutter Roomba.

We have gutter guards on all of our gutters. The ice storms keep taking out the large trees, so now all the trees are away from the house and small. No leaves to get in the gutters.

The boss's wife rousted me out of bed early again.

No not for that.

She wanted me to check out the sprinkler section in the front yard on the far east. When I designed and built the system I stretched that one section a bit too far and have it using 100% of the pump's output, and it should be closer to 90% capacity. The heads don't spray as far as ideal. Even though the designer - installer is a total genius, and very modest, he pulled a real bonehead move on that one part of the yard. I had that section set at a too short of the time to boot, and the grass got a little bit brown in a few patches. I marked a few heads, and tomorrow I "get" to dig some up, and raise them up and maybe change the spray head and certainly the each head's dirt filter.

Golly home ownership is fun.

Back in the days when my wife was working, she often stayed late to finish projects with no interruptions for coworkers. She would call me just to let me know she was going to be late. I usually replied that we can start the toga parties. I told her we (the dogs and I) all had Togas made up, and we invited all the dogs and ladies in the neighborhood over to Toga Toga Toga, but they all knew how to grab their stuff and leave out the back door real fast if they heard Mrs. Carrera pulling in the garage. I told her it was always a wild time, like in Animal house, with the dogs dancing around in a Toga. For some reason she never believed me.

I raided up 4 more sprinkler heads. One one was real challenge as a massive tree root had grown around the connection on the bottom of the head.

It was so tight onto the fitting that even after I had finally cut through to root, I had to use my largest screwdriver to pry the root off of the sprinkler head. The sprinkler in the photo is an old one, and I did not have to remove the head I was fighting with. Once the root was removed, it was easy to position the head.

I raised up one other head that had the roots suck it down as well. It was in a nice hunk of Bermuda grass and the plug of grass came out easily as a big hunk. I got it a little too high, and when I mowed yesterday, I had a episode of profanity and then some cussing. It was easy to swap in a new head, and it is low enough to not get hit by the mower again.
