Normally this would not be an issue but we are off to see the wife's step mom before it gets nasty. At least that was the plan a week ago. Looks like we waited to long.

I took this photo a few minutes ago. The mean ol boss sent me out to slave away in the front garden under his wife's directions. The decorative fountain had to be drained, and come apart for winter. Suck up the old nasty water and green alga and clean it up, take the 700 pound statue off the pedestal and water reservoir and pull the pump, and cover it all in plastic and tied with bungee cords to hold it tight. That keeps the water out and no freeze damage is possible with no water.

I might have exaggerated a tiny bit about the weight of the statue, my mom told me a million time to not exaggerate. It might be closer to 70 to 90 pounds.

That is done. I was putting the hose away, and saw the purple flower bush just covered in honey bees. That is just one bush. I bet there were 50 bees or more. The fountain is on the other side of that flower bed. They will not have much longer to feed before the first frost stops the flowers.

Looks great. Just don't drop the 700lb statue on your toes.

Possibly. Looks a little better today. My dad used to work for the state hwy division. In college we would drive home late at night from the valley to eastern Oregon and follow the plow. When he knew we were coming over he would radio them and get the schedule for us.

Phew, the boss's wife got ahold of me. I was forced into hard labor, cleaning the filters on the Koi pond, and then go up into the attic and get down our home made leaf screen for the pond. Get the screen back over the pond, and then go tote a few dozen landscaping stone work pieces from the northwest garden in the front yard to the back yard Koi pond to hold down the edges of the screen.

We are forecast for high winds, and rain tomorrow. 60 MPH winds will not move the cover. It has been tested many time over the years. I bet the cover is 10 years old or more. We all want the rain, but not the winds, especially the spinning sucky winds.

Weird weather today. We woke up to low 60s, it got really nice and into the 70s, but a south wind. Then the front arrived. Now it is north winds and the temps dropped to 45. A tiny bit of rain, .07 so far and it is supposed to clear up and stay cool for a day and back to 70s and shorts on Sunday.

Morning all. Well we made it to Bend and back. The pass home was packed snow and ice but the AWD in the CRV did a great job of slow and steady and we had no trouble at all.

Good to hear it all worked. Four wheel drive is great when it works right.

We made another trip up to Enid yesterday. I saw (3)777,777.7 miles on the odometer. Of course the 3 was just imaginary as it does not have that digit on the odometer. I was wondering how many trip the El Camino has made to Enid. Easily over 150, maybe 200 times.

I was amazed that in the middle of the wind turbine farm all but one turbine was spinning. Just one non operational that I could see. They stretch to the horizon and it is pretty flat in that part of the world.

Now I need to clean the windshield and the front of the Elky to de-bug it.

The only problem was the radar for all the nanny systems on the car. It got covered in snow right away and the dash goes orange. Just what you don't want to see while driving along and attempting to keep space with the car in front. Easy to ignore after I had the wife lean over and read the message.

I have never once had the radar system malfunction on my cars!

Never a problem with the ABS, traction control, tire pressure monitors, back up cameras, or automatic locking system.

Back in the days when we were still dating, we drove on a summer vacation to Colorado one July. We spent two nights in Ouray, CO. One day we rented a brand new, 5 miles on it, Jeep CJ to go up to Cinnamon Pass. It was a lot of fun. At one spot there was still snow on the ground and I put the Jeep into 4 wheel drive, and one tire was spinning we did not move. It did not have a locking diff, or limited slip. So 4 wheel drive was one wheel drive. I managed to get us unstuck with some rocking and we finished up the tip. My soon to be wife later said she had already started writing the story for Reader's digest of how we were trapped in the mountains with a book of matches, and just the the lunch we had packed for the day.....

My brother and SIL returned home to Alabama from Colorado yesterday. He had to put chains on the motorhome to get over the pass.

Once they got to eastern Colorado and headed to Kansas, the snow was gone, just wind to deal with. He said several trucks were blown over along the interstate.

His wife kept trying to cook in Colorado at their son's house. She had all sorts of problems with the altitude and pasta not wanting to cook.
