Sidney says he made it, but nearly crapped his pants (or maybe he did).

I am off to my parents to bury my bird. Suffice it to say, I am not a happy camper.

Dave, we're with ya man. I have a rather big selection of wooden boxes right behind me that contain the 4 legged family members that have left us.

I'm in discussions with on2wheels52 about picking up a cheapie double barrel as we type. I want something in the 22" bbl range, preferably an over-under.

I need some kind of shotfun.

Oh...did i say fun?

I love the shottie! Reminds me of a stagecoach type of gun.

Thank you. This has been extremely tough. We bonded so much after his friend died 2.5 years ago. We bonded even more after Skyler had a seizure 1.5 years ago. At home, we did almost everything together. There were even times when he did not want to go into his cage to sleep an I had to force him, then listen as he chirped to come out.

I've lost this huge personality.

Dave lies... I never said that... Only that I made it and sent him a picture of whiteout on the road.... All is well... The corolla only tried to get stuck once... If all else fails I can walk home...

It's done. First hole I dug, hit a sprinkler line. Tested to see if it was still live, yup. I buried three birds this evening.

A little back story on my previous post and why three birds. I think I may have mentioned it already... Oh well..

My ex-wife had a parakeet before we moved in together. I believe it was a few months later that he died. She had wanted to bury him at her parents house, but could never get herself to do it. So Elliot remained in the freezer. When she moved out, she never took Elliot, even though she had meant to.... Due to a long divorce, I kept hoping that she would collect him. I know how much Elliot meant to her, so I could not get myself to just throw him in the trash. He didn't take up much space and was wrapped up and out of site, so I decided to bury him at my parents house, but for some reason, he remained.

I mentioned Joey, he was purchased after Skyler but died 2.5 years ago. About a month before he died, I had read on the Internet, that the English parakeets life span was about 6-8 years. I was shocked. I guess I was used to the fact that my parakeet growing up at my parents lived to 15+ years. I assumed that this was normal and that possible the English would live a few years less. Anyway, when Joey died, I had imagined that Skyler would pass soon after and I would bury them together. Heck, I had already kept one bird in the freezer.... He didn't and since they were such best buddies, I wanted to bury them together.

So today, almost a week to the hour that Skyler died, I buried all three together.

It was a bit of a pisser to have the grave almost done and hit a pipe and to find out it still was functioning.

I feel a bit of weight lifted off of me and I have slowly been able to laugh again, but Skyler is going to be a tough one to get over. I am sad that we only really had a couple of close years together and only became even closer in these last few months.

Thanks for letting me ramble.

You need to get a long living parrot or cockatoo bro.

One that will outlive you.

That's what I said...

I have been saying that I am done. I need my freedom. With a bird(s) that flew out of their cage during the day, I needed to come home. No crashing on someone's couch.. Vacation's had to be planned and arrangements made. I had tried leaving them out, even took off skiing for a few days, but I lost sleep and they looked terrified when I came home. I had left a kitchen light on, so it would not be pitch black at night. Found out that does not work well one night.

All I have left are fish. They are good for about a week and I can get a neighbor to feed them if I'm gone longer. I just don't know right now, but I do know that it would be foolish to rush out and get another bird to fill a void, there can only be one Skyler.
