Where I grew up in Bend several rivers one had to deal with them pesky rattle snakes to fish.

had an old rod I used to thrash the crap out of the grass to get to the water.

I caught myself fly fishing once. Right in the face...
This one time at band camp... No wait, just regular summer camp... We had some kick ass capture the flag games... I was being chased by one of the counselors who also happened to play college football... He was catching up to me, I was running straight towards a big ass pine tree. I thought I could cut left at the last second and have him tangle with the tree.... Didn't happen. I misjudged the distance, was looking behind me, turned forward and WHAM! right into the tree I went, full bore. Laid myself out. A bunch of people run up, asking if I'm okay.. I could not stop laughing, though it really did hurt.

Good thing you're posting on here, Dave. I heard about a Cessna with a student pilot that landed in someone's backyard in Santa Monica. And thought of you and Grivas, of course. Not that I expect either one of you to crash--but you're the only guys I know taking airplane flying lessons, right now.

Chris has been long done with the lessons. He's trying to accrue hours so he can try for a commercial flying job. I'm the one on long term thing...
 No crash here. I've not been up for a week. And that was with Chris. I prefer landing on approved runways, thank you. A nice wide road will work in an emergency as well.

FB is waste of time but I got sucked in for a high school reunion. Its fun to keep up with a few friends from the way back and the few new ones from here. but I don't let it rule my life yet..................

yeah it could waste time. I check a few local bands and keep up with the 13 year old kid to make sure he's playing it safe. Other than a few friends I pretty much ignore the rest. Oh and take abuse from SloDave.............
