I think that one is too skinny for Stijn. He likes the fat bottomed girls.

The escort live feature is pretty freaking cool. Im in savannah and it's given me .5 mile warnings in the red light cameras and I got a speed trap alert(another escort live user passed it and hit the report button so I got warning before the detector picked up the radar)

I'm with you Stijn, love venison - especially in a hotpot.

Had a near miss with a Kamikaze deer coming down Mt Hamilton into San Jose once. Scared the crap out of me. I was in a Mitsubishi Challenger hire car (crappy thing that was too), It was near the bottom and by then the brakes were cooked and useless. A bit of a brown moment. I put a big dent in the squirrel population on that road. It was nearly as bad as trying to dodge red crabs on Christmas Island (first hand experience at that).

Once upon a time here in the Northern Territory of Australia this sign really did mean 'go flat out'

The fun police got themselves elected and introduced the speed limit of 130km/h. They said it was in the interest of road safety. Road fatalities increased significantly, like 200% and been climbing ever since. They really did it under political pressure from the federal gov. Feds were withholding funding for something in Darwin until they made the change.
Their political opposition have a mandate to remove the restriction if elected. Got my vote already.
Sorry, went political for a minute. I'll stop now.

The state of Montana used to have reasonable and prudent as the limit. The Feds made the put in a limit. There are many miles of highway that could have a much higher limit. It is not about anything more than revenue.

There's a little more to the story than that. It seems that the Europeans, mostly namely the Germans, found out about this and would make an excursion to Montana on their US vacation and go speeding around. This led to a lot of accidents, hence setting a speed limit.

When I lived there, the fine for speeding was $5. Written on the ticket - "Waste of a natural resource".

BTW, the "reasonable and prudent" limit was from dawn to dusk only.

Montana sound pretty similar, This is it for the roads up here. The secondary roads are mostly dirt tracks. It's not really a place to enjoy a drive for the driving experience. It's a scenery thing. If you want to drive somewhere in a hurry it's a 'point and shoot' thing. Most of the 'towns' marked on the map are 'blink and you miss it' places. Towns of note are The Alice, Tennant Creek, Katherine and Darwin. You really just want to set the cruise control, sit back for the ride and try not to fall asleep.

After a little research. We were always told it was because of the tourists.

Quote:
After repeal of Federal speed mandates in 1996, Montana was the only state to revert to rural daytime speed limit, beyond the Basic Rule. After the Montana Supreme Court decided that the Basic Rule was too vague and therefore violated the due process requirement of the Montana Constitution,[35] Montana's legislature imposed a 75 mph (121 km/h) limit on rural freeways in 1999, although the same wording in the basic rule remains.

BTW, on that map, the Davenport Ranges National Park (about 2/3rds the way to Tennant Creek) is where I'm camping at Easter. Like I said, all are welcome to join me.
