No, nothing special at all for my units. They are old and we really to buy a batch of new workstations. We are running Win xp pro on most everything. We need to spend about 10k on new computers. Then a week or so setting the up and installing software. That is a lot of work and we just procrastinate.

I don't blame you. New computers will probably create more issues.

when you say 10K on computers, how many machines are we talking about? also, what kind of software setup are we talking about?

i used to do building/tech work with PC's and still do it for friends and myself, so i have a sort of professional curiosity.....

Some of the software we use is the pain to set up. Some of it is straightforward.

I have two computers that I use all day. I have a KVM switch so I can switch back and forth between computers without moving. One computer is a genuine workstation the other is just a standard Dell tower. There really is not that much difference between them. Both of them have the hard drive setup as a raid mirror. I have lost a drive on one and it rebuilt the data no problem.

The big thing I want is a lot more RAM. We work with HUGE files. Right now a small project is 30 images and each image is 1.1 gig. It will mosaic together into one image. There is a lot of overlap on each image so the final image is "only" 3.5 gig or so. Then I have to make a 5 ft x 12 foot print of that file.

Evening gents... Long day, mostly spent going over the proper filling out of DOT log books for when we are pulling the big trailers or the budget trucks. BORING!

Comedy night at a local bar tonight at 9, so that should be fun....

Don't get crazy with the booze. Just enough to relax and laugh a lot.

Well I had to bite the bullet and take the Boxster to someone who has the proper diagnostic equipment. In 47 years I have never had to seek help for any car repair other then body work. I am not a happy camper about that one but I really need that car back on the road. Peggy is killing me in gas.
On a lighter note there are some places in Va that are cool.

That was leaving the shop where I dropped Willie off. I made 80 before Beth objected, it has a nice long sweeper after that circle.
Okay take one electric weedeater (like with a cord) add one blonde and what do you get? a twenty foot and an eighty foot extension cord

so, two computers? for ten grand, i could build you two computers with which you could control the world. with raid 4 and 16GB RAM and 4TB HD space, and I7 processors. seriously.

she was able to cut an extension cord with an electric weedeater? that is some talent, right there.
