its a matter of degree, rick.

so, i determined my hard drive is having issues (bad sectors, just a couple). but because it is having issues, i cannot get any cloning software to clone the drive to a new drive. yep, it throws errors and won't copy the damn data to a new drive. totally frustrating.

I'll tell you, if you ever thought you had bad luck, you should sit down with Harvey. That man really deserves a break, but you would never know it to talk to him. Super nice fella and one of the brightest people I have ever met

What software are you using? If the new hard drive is a Western digital you can download a free copy of Acroness that will work. I have the full version and it will clone to any brand of drive.

My former boss was a pilot for over 65 years. He was a licensed pilot until he was 91. He quit piloting when he turned 90 only because you can't get insurance to fly a airplane and shoot photos for commercial purposes. No one on the planet sells that insurance. In all those years he never had an emergency landing or crash of any sort.

it is a seagate drive. i have 'discwizard' for seagate drives (acronis). it doesn't work. i've also tried command level 'seatools' to scan and repair the disk. it can't repair (move and mark) the bad sectors. i am doing a disk copy, command level, and will probably have to reinstall windows 7 on my new drive.

i find it absurd that the software cannot clone the data on the new drive. i have tried several utilities, linux based, windows based, and DOS. no luck.
