Wow, in a 914? That is impressive!

Sipping some Victory 12 belgian style ale...

Interesting take on the trappiste style with a slightly heavier fruit body and a nice dashing of hops......all combined for 12% ABV

I knew a guy back in my airforce days, who after giving his final salute, drove to the front gate of the base, and once past the threshold, got out of his car, nuded up, stomped all over his uniform, kicked it around for a while (meanwhile a large audience gathered), threw a brown-eye at the guard house, got back in his car and drove away, never to be seen or heard of again.

I think he was a little disgruntled...

Maybe just a little bit.

G'morning, y'all. It's getting to be summer here. 5AM and it's in the upper 70's with upper 70's percent humidity. I can't wait until out next work-cation a bit more than two weeks from now. SoCal is calling me...

Thanks, glen. We went out to the lake and mike had an AF shirt on. Some random guy comes up like he'd know him forever, shook his hand and thanked him. I thought they knew eachother but, it's little things like that that keep him going. We're hoping there are only a couple years left. I know we have several away weeks before the end of the year and another big trip next year. I hardly notice anymore.
:/

I have to actually get up, dress up and act professional today... I'm interviewing my first potential employee. I have no idea what I'm doing so I guess I better spend the morning getting my act together.

Morning all.

Don't worry Janet, your potential employee has no idea either.

It's been a long bluddy day, and I'm off to dodge roos, have a feed, and cuddle the missus .

You all have a fun day. Hooroo.

Last time I interviewed people for a position I made up a 10 question competency test. All but two of the 8 applicants withdrew their applications after taking the test. They were just general things that had to do with doing the job and gave them an idea of what they would be expected to do. All but one of those applying for the position were already employees looking to move from production into the office. The test really helped remove any and all ideas of favoritism.

I try to ask questions that probe into what they really did in their previous job that's related to the job they are applying for. I also try, through my questions, to get a sense of what the applicant might be like to work with, not just for me, but will they get along with our other employees. Good luck with it Janet. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to get it right. You'll do fine.

Morning everyone! Fiance is at the beach with the family she works for. Some people are lucky with their jobs...lol.

I finally found my squeak. It's coming from inside my muffler once it gets up to running temp. I know there are baffle plates in there and other chambers. I was thinking about just cutting it open, gutting and welding back together.

My parents lived at Maxwell AFB when I was leaving for Oklahoma. There was one particular cop that loved to give tickets for 26 in a 25 zone. Two tickets and you were a pedestrian. I got one ticket so I drove at 20 MPH on base.

The day I was leaving for good I was thrilled when I saw that cop was on guard duty at the gate. I did a donut on base right at the entrance and blasted through the gate and 40. I figure that cop re-upped just waiting on me to come back. It has been 35 years and I have not been back yet.

Yay! A day to celebrate my girls!

Through the years I have seen my sister keep the house together with five kids while my brother-in-law Navy Captain went on several deployments. Times where he is on a submarine and she can't talk to him for weeks at a time. I don't know how military wives do it. I would go ballistic without my man. Hats off to you and your husband, Janet.

My dad was gone a lot for TDY duty when I was growing up. He was gone months at a time. My mom finally got him to watch my brother & I for two weeks and my mom took a round trip cruise ship from Hawaii to Japan. The day after she sailed off I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. He had a stressful two weeks and it made him appreciate what my mom did all the time.

Before I was born Dad was a traveling salesman and was on the road for weeks at a time. Mom stayed home with the 5 kids. When I came along Dad quit his sales jobs and took a regular hours job moving the family to Oklahoma City so he could be home while I was growing up.

A divorced neighbor lady complained to my Mom about raising the two kids with their dad not being around much. He left because she was fooling around on him. Instead of pointing out it was her fault, Mom said try raising 3 with the 3rd being born 2 weeks after your husband is killed in a car wreck. When Mom and Dad got married she was a widow with 3 kids and he was a widower with 1 kid. They had two more kids together for a total of 6.

I haven't yet left him with the kids for longer than a day but, I may be off to Vegas in December for a week which will be a logistical nightmare with his hours.

It's not like he wants to be gone or is by any means having fun. At the same time being home with them 24/7 for days, weeks and sometimes months is no picnic either.
