They are palm trees, and while the look nice they are not native to central Oz and they drink too much water. They are being replaced with natives that don't drink so much.
And they make a mess. Afternoon/Evening all

The palms are LA's trademark, though, so I don't think they will be going anytime soon. At least from the beach.

my father had this huge cottonwood tree that he cut down in his yard. i am not sure why he planted it in the first place, as they are crap trees and prone to getting blown down. anyway, the thing had surface roots all over the yard that kept putting up shoots. he finally got tired of it, cut a big bowl shape into the stump with a chain saw and then put a couple or three pounds of that spectracide stuff into the depression. the roots were dead, and no more shoots, within a matter of DAYS. the bonus was that the trump seemed to decompose at a very accelerated rate.
plus, you can use any that is left over to make proper black powder!

Sound nice. We've been overcast here near the coast. Temps staying moderate. Hope it stays that way when I resume painting the exterior of the house.

Very.
Found a real quick recipe for hollandaise sauce. Throw all the ingredients into a double boiler and stir like crazy. Hollandaise in 5 mins. Time to go play with the chain saw again.

The Stick
|
Got a big cotton wood in my yard, it's not the one that makes the fuzz. It does shed limbs and leaves all the time. No roots or root shoots. Dog dug up a toad at the base of the trunk. About a foot and a half deep 8 inches wide and a foot long. Within a few hours the hole filled with water. Stayed full of water all summer, even during very dry late summer. Found it's some kind of capillary effect. The cotton wood gets it's water from very deep and survivalist say to look for cotton woods and dig a hole at the base to find water.
The tree I dislike the most in my yard is a sweet gum. It puts off thousands of inch diameter spiney balls. Can't go bare foot in my yard without considerable pain, and that was well before the roofing nail threat.
