Morning Y'all Well it looks like they got my interweb all fixed up. There was a regional outage so when the repair guy called me to finish the repair ticket I had opened I asked him to tell the snot nosed little punk at repair the is wasn't my equipment, just like I told him several times before.
Beach, Y'all can have it, I like the water and all for about five hours, then ship me back to the mountains, and I'll be all happy again. Pete I was watching the running of the bulls on tv and it was great to see people getting hauled away on stretchers. What the hell were they thinking? Sure I would love to PAY $75 to run for my life so that I don't get gored by a few thousand lbs of angry guy cow. If I am feeling that stupid I'll just call Beth fat at least I will get mauled in the comfort of my own home and save money

Dang Rick I always figured you was a smart feller. I agree!
We had a "family reunion" with some of my wife's relatives a couple of years ago. It was at Lake Eufaula which is a very nice lake. The boat ride was nice, but that gets boring after 30 minutes. I was real glad I had a good book with me. What a boring day. Good Morning Folks.

Morning Everyone.
Trying to toss around ideas for when I redo my 911sc from the ground up as a nice custom project. 3.6 with the newer tranny swap (6th gear would be nice for highway) or 3.0 redo beef up (would like to get as close to 300hp NA as possible) and 915 tranny over hall with a taller 4th and 5th gear. I am happy with my quirky 915 tranny, because I know what to expect and how to drive it, my only reason for the swap would be for the 6th overdrive gear for the highways. I do a lot of traveling across PA and want to get away from screaming down the highway at 3k rpm at 70-75 mph.

Ha! I wish I could cruise at 3,000rpm. Mine does 4,000rpm at 70mph. But it is the lack of sound deadening and side windows that is worse. However, a pair of earplugs makes it heaven. Drove it 2.5 hours up the coast that way (and the same back). Very comfy.
The throttle bodies are worn and whatnot so I usually try to keep it at 3,000rpm minimum or else it gets a bogged down. Nice thing about cruising at high revs is no need to downshift to pass. By the way, I got over 20 mpg doing that. 75mph average, 160 miles and plenty of hills.

Know you don't want to hear it.
My GTS cruises 85 mph at 3100 rpm. Down shifting is not required for passing acceleration from as low as 40 mph in 5th gear.,,V8 torque. Two years ago I got pulled over by a Texas Patrol claiming I had reached 93 mph passing a pickup that was doing 50 mph, not only did I not downshift what was left of my clutch was slipping under heavy acceleration. Luckily clerical errors ended up completely removing the maximum fine ticket from my driving record. Week before last drove 800 miles round trip from OKC to Rolla Mo. Did all highway driving in 5th gear using the cruise control accel deccel instead of the gas pedal to keep from taxing the right foot Never found the need to downshift while on the highway. Averaged 75 mph including stopping for gas once going and once coming back. Got 22 mpg for the entire trip. Besides not needing to downshift, one of the things I really like is there is enough engine braking that just tapping the deccel button or lifting off the gas slows quick enough that using the brakes is not needed when coming up on slower traffic. Not only is it more relaxing to not have to move the right foot to the brake (even without using cruise control), the brake lights don't signal to officers behind that I am actually slowing down to pass. That's what I call a Grand Touring car. And it sounds pretty good too. Yesterday after I left my appointment my wound care doctor called to tell me he walked out of his office to go to lunch just in time to hear me drive off and wanted first dibs if I ever decide to sell. He had a 944 Turbo, currently drives an M5 and plays with a Buick Grand National, and had been talking about getting a 993 twin turbo.

I would love a 6th gear as well, but swapping transmissions is a major job. Unless I get down to 55 I don't need to downshift unless it is a 2 lane rural highway and a short passing zone. I have nothing like V8 torque.
Andy, what 6 speed transmission are you looking at getting? Have you priced that swap?

I wish I could find a taller 5th gear. That would be ideal. Drop 5th gear rpms by 1,500 or so would be ideal. I wish someone made it. I would buy it.
