i've been in phoenix when it was 112F. i am pretty much okay with the heat up to about 100F.

112F was unbearable. there was literally no one outside. i made the mistake of not leaving the van running with the AC, while we bought some stuff at the hardware store. i could not get the van cooled back down and the AC was working just fine.

You want to talk about truly oppressive, you should go visit Joe when the temps hit the triples, nothing like 70+% humidity and 100+.
We get like that here as well but not as often as SC.
We went to visit FastPat in Greenville during a heat waive in august. it was 110 ambient and we were in Lanna. Triple black and no ac. I thought Beth was going to pass out a couple of times

one more question about those fuel hoses, if i may:

when i got the hose off (i cut it off, to be honest), i couldn't find any kind of problem. there were no cracks, nothing. yet it seemed to be weeping fuel at a rate that allowed it to become wet and dripping.

does the above sound like what you are finding?

what is happening to the hoses, exactly?

okay, two questions....

They are leaking around the clamps. You can snug the clamps and it may stop for a while. The rubber does not contract very well in the cold after time and ethanol. The cold seems to accelerate this problem. We haven't had any issues after replacing the rubber. And it is just those three little hoses, which is why I think the heat from the engine and the cold of the fuel is causing it.

oh, i see. the fuel is cold so the metal fuel lines shrink, but the rubber has become harder and expands with heat, thus allow fuel seepage.

does that sound right?

The rubber has lost it's ability to shrink and flex, so basically, yeah you are correct
