Afternoon all. Car goes in on the 20th. They can attempt to locate the vacuum leak.

Thought you were just supposed to spray starter fluid around on the vacuum connections and hoses with the car idling. When it revs up, you found your leak.

I was surprised how many small vacuum leaks I found and fixed when I pulled the engine for the rebuild. Several rubber hoses were just mush. Lots of little ones. It is amazing my car ran as well as it did. It runs lots better now.

Good Monday morning folks.

I got started packing the car for the trip. It is amazing how much stuff I need to cram into a little car for the trip. We have one big suitcase that fits on the read seat platform and wedges in perfect. My helmet bag and tools go next to it. That suitcase is empty right now but it is in position to pack around. I have to helmet bag and a tool kit packet. There is still a lot to do before I am ready.

I hear ya Glen. I did a dry run packing the Lotus for my trip to Moyock. There's a lot of crap I have to cram in there.

I have all my clothes, the helmet & tools, computer nerd electronics I can't live without, and my wife's clothes. All she is taking on her flight is one carry-on bag.

I take a laptop and some external speakers so I can have some music when I am in the room. I hve chargers for the electronics, and of course a real camera.

In the end the car is packed to the limit.

This is at the hotel in Savannah, GA.

I have a lot of bags. Every Parade there has a "goodie" bag with stuff and a bag. I have a lifetime supply of backpacks and laptop bags. They come in handy for packing a 911.

Gosh, I live for a month out of a carry on and my laptop bag. The only other items not already in the car (the 928 has a nice tool kit built in) is a wash bucket with a few car cleaning things.

In my 20's I met a lady that liked to do international travel. She gave me a few tips on traveling lite. She carried everything she needed in one shoulder bag that looked like a laptop bag. Only one change of clothes. Everyday, and something nice for a fancy outing. Said she wash out her delicates every night in the hotel sink and they were silk so they dried quickly. Said she didn't carry toiletries because most all hotels provide them or she could make an adventure out of getting what she needed wherever she was. Said the benefits to traveling lite were tremendous, she could change plans on a whim without worrying about all the extra baggage and nothing to leave in a room to get stolen.

Yea, but.....

Mrs Carrera requires a lot more stuff than I do.

I take enough shorts and t-shirts for a clean t-shirt every day and a clean pair of shorts every other day and enough underwear for one per day plus a few changes for getting dressed up after a long day.

We have to have a few "nice" changes of clothes for the Concours dinner and final banquet and Presidents dinner. I will be gone for 10 days and nights.

I always take a few quarts of oil and a funnel to get it in the oil tank. Car wash stuff for at least two car washes.

I usually use every single item, except the tools. I hope to never need the tools.

Yeah i usually take 2 changes of everyday, Shower with one in the mornings and let it hang dry while wearing the other. Or, if leaving the next day wash them out in the sink and hang dry over night. Not much into the silk delicates thing. She also said she wore silk to travel in because it doesn't wrinkle, not much into silk shirts or pants either.

If you've ever heard George Carlins routine on stuff, the stuff I need gets pretty small very quickly.

Always return with more stuff than I left with.

Thanks. It will be an adventure as usual. 900 miles in a day is the hard part.
