Get off my lawn!

That was fun.
Good autocross and good fellowship. A friend of mine that was part of the local club when I joined the OKC region was there. They go back to 1964 in PCA. Another friend that used to own a repair shop in town was there. I have know him since the same era. Then Action Andy showed up. He used to hang out with our region when he was 16 and too young to join. The day he turned 18 he joined. He drove a 911 SC to high school. He showed up and showed us how to drive. He got FTD with a margin of a over a second. Several other hot shoes showed up and all were schooled in how to drive. Andy beat my time but over 10 seconds. A gutted 600 HP Mitsubishi Evo with Hosiers is crazy fast. I got a ride with him and it is just amazing how fast that thing can change directions. He beat a 700 HP Mustang by 4 seconds. Every other car there today was from this millennium. I had the oldest car there buy a margin of 16 years, The next oldest car after mine was a 2001.

Never the oldest. Never the newest. Someone's always got something cooler, here in Boss Angeles.

Why do some mechanics always super over-tighten things? I went to rotate the tires on Mrs. Noah's DD today. The last time anyone's touched the wheels was at the dealer. I could not get 2 of the lug nuts off. I used the L-shaped breaker bar from the trunk, stood on the end of it like I usually do (and I weigh about 165#) and bounced up and down...and nothing budged on 2 of the lug nuts. In the end, I took the 4-ft long handle from my floor jack and used it as a breaker bar to get them loose. 94 ft-lbs my a**. What's wrong with just torquing things up like the book says?

Because when you go in for an oil change and rotate you NEVER get a seasoned vet like myself. You get the D-Tech, who doesn't care

Maybe that is why I never go there. I do it myself.

I hear OK is way out in front of CA for their number of earthquakes this year. I guess we're gonna have to start calling Oklahoma City "Shakeytown."

Yea there were 4 today. All just 2 or 3s so not much shaking.
I decided to be lazy this afternoon. I did not wash the 911 like I usually do after an autocross. It is 100 degrees today but the HIGH temp is going to be a ton cooler soon. Highs in the 70s is much better for washing cars. Even if it is raining.

Still hanging at 82 in the shade. Yep I'm a light weight. I don't deal well with heat.

It doesn't seem like much extra effort (particularly if you do this stuff for a living and have all the shop manuals lying around listing the various torque specs) to do it the right way. I always have to use the impaling screwdriver technique of taking off an oil filter after a shop's done the last oil change.
