Good Morning! And another start to a wonderful winter week...

Nope, didn't work, still a sucky Monday.

Hey it might be Monday but we are above ground, and healthy enough to go to work and make our way in the world. Rick has to shovel s&#@ but that is because he failed to move last year. Jim likely gets the day off. Pete is earning a living pushing that while crap around.

Jim worked Friday (when this crap first hit) and is working today. Working from home, but working none the less. Winter sucks.

Check on the price of aluminum before making the trip, I have quite an amount amassed waiting for the price to go back up....but unless China starts buying again.....

Shredder steel (I.E junk cars) used to go for $240 a ton here in Ohio, and you could make a nice profit from scrapping a few cars. Now, the shredder steel price is $30 a ton because China was driving the demand.

I am not going to store the cans anymore. I either give them away for free, or sell them for something. I refuse to waste the space in my storage building for old cans. I have the space for 4 bales. When the 5th is ready, off they go.

So THATS where they got the aluminium for those crappy ASP engines when I was into R/C planes. I didn't understand how ASP was able to sell their engines, Not only were they cheap and made in China, they were direct copies of other manufacturers engines. The castings were much rougher and the engines didn't last at all. Only engines I ever saw the castings break just from normal usage.

There were a couple of guys in the local club that thought ASP engines and Airtronics radios were the absolute best and bragged on how great they were. Yet they would spend hours trying to get their ASP motors running then once they did would end up crashing the plane due to some radio glitch.

Was so glad when first starting bought the motor and radio the other local club guys recommended, Super Tigre and JR. The one time I couldn't get my engine started within minutes one of the other guys had it running a tuned perfectly. And I never had any radio glitches except for that one time I forgot to extend the antenna and lost my Super Chipmunk because I flew it out of the very short range the radio had without the antenna extended.

Was one of the first guys to get the fancy computer programmable radios. Did all kinds of fun stuff on my planes. The main thing was putting a servo for each aileron and set it up to work both as ailerons and flaps, flaoerons. The older guys in the club commented it was just more stuff to go wrong. But within a month or so they had a computer radio and were touting how cool they were.

One of the fun things with the flaperons was being able to fly on windy days. You could set it for reverse flaps and with the downforce created could taxi around in quite more wind than normal without the plane blowing over. A must have for windy Oklahoma. During take off roll you just flip the flaperons back down to normal ailerons and up and away it went. The same thing on landing. As soon as you touch ground flip the flaperons up and the plane would stick to the runway like glue.

Also used to have fun with the flaperons flying on normal days. Taxi along at a good clip, flip the flaps down and go relatively straight up. Then do the opposite on landing. Cruise along real high, flip the flaps up and come down really quick. But had to make sure you flipped em back before you hit the ground, ha ha.

It is interesting how digital radios and electric planes have changed the hobby. You don't have to make sure no-one else is using your radio frequency so not many people join and fly in the clubs much anymore, and with the electrics people don't seem to fly nearly as much as we did with gas. Instead of just gassing up and going again, you gotta spend time recharging the batteries.

Also the local hobby shops are having a difficult time staying in business with everyone ordering their stuff on the internets.

Reminds me...need to get one of those magnifying desk light things so I can get my copters back to terrorizing the house. Don't know what made me think I could work on those tiny things?

Welp. I now have rooms reserved at the official Parade hotel.

It was fairly easy except the credit card I use and think of as my main go to CC was compromised last week. Somehow it was used in Boston to buy clothes.

The charges were removed and I am not out one penny but that card is shut down and my new card has not yet arrived. Since I don't even have a CC number for that account I figured I would just use my debit card. Nope, it expires before the Parade. I will have a new debit card by then but I can use my normal backup.

I had to dig up my "back up" card that expired in 2018. That CC stays in my home lock box and I only carry it on vacations. Fortunately I am a geek and have that CC number stored in a locked password accessible only file on my cell phone.

Well, Rick has used a snowblower more than I have this year. There is something wrong with that picture. We usually get 100 inches per year. I doubt we have had 24 and most came during one snowfall for deer season.

We are getting rain, freezing drizzle, freezing fog and snow today.

Glad to see you all are surviving the brunt of it anyway. Hope the truck doesn't break for Pete again.

Richard, we have the Specktum radios for our planes. Similar to the JR. When racing cars/trucks/buggies I used Futaba exclusively.

When we switched from dirt off road courses to on road I decided to build my own car. Mid-engine belt drive multi-link front suspension and similar to a newer 911 with a cam to adjust camber in the rear on a custom fiberglass chassis. I liked to run the suspension softer than most of the other guys as well. It was competitive. We all had issues with tires as they were all so soft they would wear out after a few races. They would squeal on the turns.
