It is spring here. 72 degrees and clear skies. That means I am going to clean the leaves out of the garage. It looks almost like a forest floor. It must be a leaf attractor. I will get the wife involved with helping debug the tornado shelter. Lots of spiders and crap get in there. Shop vac to the rescue.

Hope Thuy's Pops is doin better.

Attacking some spring cleaning here as well.

Cleaning and dusting with the windows open so nice fresh dust can replace the old stale dust.
The house smells fresher anyway. Kinda like hanging bedding and rugs outside to dry.

Considering everything he's pretty good. He's just not wanted to get up so he's getting week. They want to keep him for a few days to get him in better shape. Thuy hasn't been pushing him or his wife to keep him moving, but that's about to change. She told him if he wants to live he needs to get off his butt! Her two specialties in nursing are oncology and hospice, so she knows what he needs to be doing!

Hope he comes good quickly Sid and Tweez.

Taxes, blah! I've still got 4 months before that's a headache, 7 months before it becomes a nightmare.

Oh goodie, a one day weekend. Missus is still making sleeping noises and I'm getting ready for golf.

I was really surprised just how quickly Mom responded to having a physical therapist come make her do a few exercises and walk around a few minutes 3 times a week. Couldn't keep Mom doing them and she would slowly lose her capabilities. Got to where when she didn't feel like pushing the cart for me at the grocery store I would tell her doc and he would sign her up for another round with the physical therapist. Mom would always happily do the exercises for the therapist, but also always put them off when I asked her.

The only thing I could get her to do was to push the cart for me at the grocery store so we went down every aisle. Made a quick trip to the grocery store take an hour, but she got in some good walking in twice, sometimes 3 times a week.

It was kinda funny, when she started getting to where she needed more therapy she would start getting tired, then stop to read labels.

Phew.

We got the koi pond leave cover removed. The fountain for the front yard garden set up. The scardy hole is vacumed out of leaves and dead bugs. I even cleaned out the leaves and debris from the lift pit. Then I swept the entire garage and picked up a ton of leaves and crap. Since I have the lift the three sets of floor stands and the floor jack were covered in spider webs and spider eggs. The garage looks a ton better.

Then I decided to replace the front brake pads. I knew they were almost worn out. A set of OEM GM pads are 21 bucks. No core charge, no fuss no muss. It must be the easiest brake pad on the planet to replace.

Fun times at the Carrera house. Yesterday we both took showers in the morning and the other routine things requiring plumbing. I worked in the garage and yard and used the garage bathroom many times through the day. I washed my hand numerous times.
We had decided to go to Sam's that evening. I always visit the bathroom before a trip away from home. I peed as usual and the toilet did not flush. It is a toilet that can't be stopped up. All of a sudden none of the toilets in the house will work and the sinks gurgle.
The CIA & FBI must have plugged the sewers while I was outside working. Of course the "best" part is we get to hire the rooter guy on a Sunday. Extra expensive.

$140.00 later and I get to take a shower. Yea. The bad news is now we know that the sewer line at the elbow into the city main is a problem. It has come apart and needs to be dug up and fixed. The good news is the sewer in the house is working at the moment and we don't have to do the repair right now. We have a few days and can keep using the house facilities. The bad news is it will cost 500 to 600 bucks if we are lucky.

Hope that elbow ain't anywhere near anything you really like in the yard.

At least that should fix those kinds of problems for a long time.
In the 35 years we lived at our old house replaced the sewer lines twice.
When I was 6. and again when I was 18.
First time was because it was that orange bird tile carp.
Everyone in the neighborhood had to redo theirs at about the same time.
Second was because Dad planted a cherry tree right on top of the lines.
Don't remember what they used the second time, but went with pvc the 3rd.
Seems to have done the trick, has been good since, over 30 years.
When I helped my brother do his, he put in cast iron.

If the clean out is any indication this house has pvc.
Haven't had any issues for 20 years...knock on wood.

Pelican board usually goes down for maintenance somewhere between 4:30 and 5:30 AM Central time And always has.

Maybe you haven't noticed until you got back to the OZ instead of the USA time zone.

Good morning.

I'm beginning to think sparrow farts cause early morning insomnia.

The ornamental pear trees are all white and flowery, the other trees are starting to bud out. It's just like spring!
