I remember the olden days when I autocrossed my 914. More times than I want to remember I saw the oil pressure light come on in a long corner. It is comforting to know the oil tank always has a nice supply of oil for the oil pump in the 911. One of the events we ran at our local track was a drivers ed. We had a skid pad setup. It was kinda fun to try to keep it right on the edge of sliding or spinning. Never had to worry about oil pressure.

I wonder if a dry sump setup is worth the money. They also have small remote reservoirs that keep the pressure up in case the sump gets low.

2 944TurboS, BoxsterS, 928GT, 928GTS Autocrossed them all only tracked a 944 TurboS a few times. Never had any oil issues. On the track it was brakes boiling.

They also have a thing called AccuSump that is a hydralic pressure accumulator. It goes in the oil line on the pressure side of the pump. If the regular sump sloshes and the pump doesn't pick anything up, the accusump keeps the pressure and the flow going. It is a pressurized reservoir. The amount of time it protects the motor is dependent on needed oil flow and the size of the accusump.

That is what some of the 928 racers were using until thy discovered the oiling problem wasn't sloshing. It was that at high rpm flow rates the heads were filling up and not draining back down to the sump quick enough. One guy even installed a sight window in the valve covers and you could watch the heads fill up at high rpms. The solution now is to improve the head oil drains to the sump. Some even put a vacuum pump in place of the smog pump and put about 6psi vacuum on the sump to suck the oil out of the heads. Others even run external drain lines from the heads to the sump.

A stock VW type 4 engine designed in the 1960s is a LONG way from a 944 engine designed in the 1970s by Porsche. I guess the 944 had the "sport Audi truck engine" but Porsche figured out a few things. I am sure the 914 racers have a cure for the oiling problems. Mostly run a 6 cylinder 911 engine

Accusump is the one I was thinking, just couldn't remember the name. Pretty sure the Cobra is not collecting in the heads, the oil pressure drops right after you hammer the throttle but only if it is Valvoline or Quaker State. If I use a known good oil I have no issues. I think some get too thin and slosh up the back of the pan since it is a center sump. I don't have the clearance for a rear sump 6 quart pan out of a truck.

With the new, larger brakes I have yet to have an issue.

I had my insurance agent over to the house this afternoon. Since I don't have a daily commute anymore I can put the Elky on a "Chrome" policy like the 911. The one agent has all three of the cars, and the house plus an umbrella policy. He has to take pictures and get a list of modifications and upgrades, and take the photos. It is HOT (96 degrees) out there so it did not take a lot time.

Of course the 911 was on the other side of the garage under the car cover. I pulled back the car cover to show him it was in pristine condition as always. Mrs Carrera drove up to see her mother so she was gone and he could not get to see the Macan.

Next he wanted to go over the insurance policy for the cars and the house. Everything is fine and one of the things I love about the company is is we have no claims, I will get just over a grand as a check from them in two months.

They do things I really like. The roof is covered for full replacement. No depreciation. If the AC system pukes and we have to replace the entire system to go to 410a they cover that. If the water line coming from the curb has to be replaced, they cover it. In the end they are cheap I think. The 911 is under 60 cents per day for agreed value and so is the Elky. The Macan would be market value, but that is fair. The house is insured for replacement cost. I really like the company.

When the roof was totaled from hail, they wrote a check for a huge amount. When that deer attacked us and committed suicide on the 911, they did not blink. I took to to the facility I wanted and they wrote the check.

Saw some great cars. Met some great people, all except Glen. Now I'm off to rob a few banks cause they have a 2017 blue targa I really really want. Headed home tomorrow. The heat is proving to be to much for my dad.

Good Morning all. We made it over Monday.

When I first talked to my insurance agent about not having a daily commute I told him I now commute down the hall in my socks and the same shorts and t-shirt as before. When he showed up yesterday I did not have on shoes and he commented, wow you really do commute in your socks.

I did put on my shoes to go to the garage to show him the Elky.

Naaaaa.

I just put on my walking shoes if I need footwear. I have silly wide feet, EEE width. I can just slip on my walking shoes without needing to tie or untie them. Those are way to formal looking. And I like the support of walking shoes for walking on concrete.
