Got an idea with all the IOT stuff, but it is not really a part of IOT.

A shower controller.

Typically you turn on the shower and wait around for it to get to your happy temp. Periodically sticking your hand in to see if it is warm yet. If you are in a hurry, turn it to full hot, then mix in the cold once it is getting hot. Usually running hot and cold down the drain until it is comfy enough to hop in.

Was kind of wondering if people would buy a digital shower controller. You set the temp and turn it on. It doesn't output anything until it reaches the temp. It runs the hot water directly down the drain until hot, then mixes and turns on when it is just the right temp.

If you always take a shower at a certain time of day it could pre run the hot so it would be ready almost instantly.

The controller could control the temp so if someone runs a faucet or flushes a toilet it compensates for you. Or even if you start running out of hot water it mixes in less and less cold with a warning light that it will shut off when it can't maintain your temp.

Just thinking while standing there testing the shower temp waiting for my hot water to arrive.

Interesting idea about the shower. Back in the olden days when photography was done on light sensitive materials or processors had temperature control valves for the water. The film or the print had to be processed at a certain temperature and the water had to be real close to the chemical temps or it would cause real problems.

Out water temp valves had to have very expense valves made my one of Kimray's competitors. We had to use a all high end stainless steel ball valves made by Balon valve to turn the water on or off to get full flow, and lot leak or corrode. The name for the temperature water control gizmo was a "engine" and it was very complex with bi-metal springs and needed service every few years but we used more water per day than most homes use in a month. They cost many hundreds of dollars back in the 1980s when we bought them, and that was just the water mix valve. The ball valves were expensive as well. A tiny speck of crud like lime would make them FUBAR until taken apart and rebuilt.

You valve would have to be in a easily removable package and that is hard to do with a tile shower. It is possible, but it would be only for the ultra high end showers.

Brent, that are zillions of great restaurants around here. We can eat at them anytime. What type of food do you want to have? The BBQ place Earl's Rib palace has good ribs, and overall good BBQ, and a really great cheddar burger.

We have a Cajun and sea food food place that is wonderful. That is where we met up with Jim and his wife. It is the same restaurant that my wife and I had our first date. We eat there on our anniversary.

And then again Ann's Chicken Fry. It has the Route 66 theme and Chicken Fried Steak and fried Okra are a regional favorite. They have visitors from all over the globe stop to experience the place.

There is a great Italian place right next door to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. They are a bit more expensive than the other places. It is interesting in that the building was built back in the 1930s by the Mob. It served liquor and had gambling when Oklahoma was still in prohibition, and had hookers downstairs. It has a bunch of small rooms than line the main restaurant. The mob was finally broken up and chased out of Oklahoma but that restaurant remains. It is a cool place with great food.

The list is endless.

Talked to my bro and he installed a return line from the end of his hot water run. He got a hot water heater that is designed for instant-on and has a place to hook up the return line and pumps water he says a little over 50% of the time to keep the hot water lines hot all the time. Said he ran the return line thru his attic.

The best option is to put a small instant on water heater back by the bathroom. That would be real tricky in our house without using up some closet space and Mrs Carrera is protective of her giant closet.

My parents put in a little bitty water heater under the kitchen sink. Their house was built in the 1930s and the water heater was in the detached garage in the back yard. The water went to the two bathrooms before getting to the closet so it took forever to get warm water to wash you hands or do the dishes before the little water heater.

Bro says after a lot of research his instant-on heater and circulating hot water in the lines was a much cheaper solution for his home. And it didn't take up any extra space.

Okay so our options for eateries are:

BBQ and Burgers
Cajun
Italian

Chicken Fry place is closed on Sunday's as well.

So looks like Earl's Rib Palace, or Pearls Oyster Bar.

What is it with chicken fry? Not only do they not take cards like Ann's, they are only open Wednesday thru Saturday!

Cash is king. Look at Eischen’s chicken. They serve fried chicken and beer and not a lot of anything else. All cash only. Well, they do take checks. The oldest bar in Oklahoma.

Today is Friday the 13th!

Signed the contract on this house on Friday the 13th to close on Halloween.
Good thing I'm not superstitious.
The relator was kinda freaked over it, but here were no problems.

Eichen's now has BBQ and Roast Beef sammaches, nachos, and chili, besides just whole fried chicken and fried okra.

Oh and they are NOT open on Sunday as well...the chickens.
Maybe there is something about frying chickens or chicken frying on a Sunday I don't know about.

I guess most of the good Chicken and Chicken fry places are family owned and not a big chain. They work when they want to. I know Eischen's does not need money. The family has owned the building for generations. They rake in a lot of money.

Welp, I am now married to a genuine Master Gardner. She done got graduated today. Even got a fancy certificate to prove it.
