One of my friends developed Alzheimer. It is scary to see someone my age start to lose he mind, and just go away. The worst part was he turned mean and nasty. Especially towards his wife. The more his mind left the meaner he got. She have to have him institutionalized at a place that could handle violent men. Alzheimer just changed him from a pleasant normal intelligent man into a monster. And it happen in 9 months. Last I heard his heart is still beating and he is considered alive, but he should be euthanized. I know he never wanted to be this way and would prefer death. It is just not an option in this state.

My Father in law got Alzheimer. He just became a very large docile baby. He finally died when he forgot how to swallow.

It is usually better than any alternative, but not always.

Was sure glad Mom was happy go lucky demented. She never had any of those bad, stubborn, or violent moods.

Still sucked witnessing her mind going away. Especially when she woke up in the middle of the night and asking where we were. Glad she at least always knowed who I was. Can't say that for any of my siblings. But like I've said, my goal was to just make what was left of her life as stress free and comfortable as I could. We all gotta go sometime and it is pretty common for kids to outlive their parents for some reason.

After her first stroke she told me a lot of stuff about my family I didn't know. They are some messed up people.

so far day one at the rehab facility has not gone well. He basically ignored the person working with him and dozed off. If he is not willing to work or going to make gains they will toss him out.

Mom always had a smile for and did what the nurses, and therapy people told her. They all really liked her.

Hey I guess it is Saturday.
We have our first autocross of the year tomorrow. I will get the 911 checked out. Mostly tire pressure and lug torque. Nothing else has been touched.

Remember going to my first Corvette club Autocross. Part of the safety check they jacked the car up and tried to jiggle each wheel to make sure it was tight. Are you going to do that?

I will likely put it on the lift and check wheel bearings, and give it a good visual check up.

Glen, do you have collector car ins. and if so, what restrictions do they place on your use of your Carrera? I'm thinking about maybe switching companies. Same question goes out to you other guys, too. Thanks!

Was going to put collector car ins on the 928. But my agent told me what they would give me if it were totalled. Their values are following the current sales close enough decided it wasn't worth the extra to get agreed replacement.

The policies I looked at the limitations were worded weird. You can't used the vehicle as a "daily driver" but you can occasionally drive it to work or errands, occasionally or if your daily driver is being repaired. In the past the collector car agreed value did not include that claus and you could only drive it for strictly pleasure or to and from and at collector events.

Since my standard full coverage policy covered well enough with the Cayenne as my primary vehicle I didn't look too in depth though. Did discover collector car ins was based heavily on replacement value and much more expensive than it used to be.

I am with Farmer's and it helps a bunch not only that both cars and my house is with them, but it seemed to matter that my garage doors are alarmed with my house's monitored alarm. Thought it was silly myself because their is a delay on the overhead door before the alarm is activated, they call to see if the alarm is false, then they call the Police, and the police have an average response time. It all totals to 6 minutes best case from when the door is opened until police arrive. Understand thieves can pull a trailer or hauler up to the garage door. Then open the door, load the car, and be gone in 3 minutes.

I have a dead bolt on my overhead door that works manually from the inside, or off the garage door opener. They are $100. To get my car they would have to be smart enough to go thru a window in the house, then unbolt the door then open and load the car up. I hope the extra time to go thru a window would add enough time that it would be too close to getting caught for theifs to get away.

Know a guy that his car alarm went of two nights in a row. The third morning his car was gone. And it was just a Cavalier? If they want it bad enough, they will figure something out.

One of the things I don't do is build a web site all about my current car and all the stuff i've done to it. A guy with a 944 turbo did that. There were all kinds of one-of-a-kind parts on it. About 3 months after the had gotten some big upgrades done it was stolen. The interesting thing was that the car was in his Dad's garage with a couple of collector car Ferraris. They didn't touch those cars and had to jump start the 944 to steal it.

They did find and jail the guy that did it. Found him selling some of the one-of-a-kind parts on ebay. The car itself was in chop shop condition, and there were other 944 Turbos in the same state in his garage. He was 3 States away from where the car was.

I have a policy from ANAPAC or American National Insurance. The 911 and the El Camino are both over 30 years old so they qualify as the special value or "chrome" coverage. It first and foremost requires a "agreed value" and an appraisal from a professional. The web valuations are also considered.

Now that I don't commute to work in the Elky, it too is has a lower rate. I am "limited" to 6,000 miles per year but that is not an issue. If I am going on a long road trip I call them and tell them I will be putting 5 or 6 thousand miles on a special two week trip and that is no issue.

Any event that requires me to wear a helmet is is simply not covered. I fully understand that and I am not in my 20s and super competitive anymore. I can't care less about my times on the track, and I go ONLY to have fun. Virtually every car policy now has a line about helmet use so it is not unusual.

When I was in California 10 years ago for the San Diego parade we planned on a second week of driving and I drove up to San Fransisco and my wife rode along. We spent several days in SF and then started working our way down H1. We spent the night in San Luis Obispo. We were heading to the mountains to find some fun mountain roads but some crazed deer decided to change our plans. Thump.

We were 100% unhurt but the 911 took an expensive hit. I called my agent and back then I did not have a smart phone. He got on the phone and found a good place for me to get my windshield replaced. The same one that is still in it today. I drove it home and took it to several body shops, but I knew who I wanted to fix it. They did not balk, it all worked like insurance should work. My car was fixed to my standards. Tate required another appraisal after the repair to verify it was done right, and looked like before. They wrote a check and all I had out of pocket was my deductible.

ANAPAC covers all three cars, and my house. We also have an umbrella policy. The 911 cost 75 cents per day to have agreed value replacement if it is stolen or totaled. Dang cheap. Every year that I don't have a claim (after three years of coverage) they send me a check. Last year it was $1,200.

Oh yea, they replaced my roof after a hail storm. It was a big check. I think they are a great company.

Thanks guys. I want to be able to do more than car events or pleasure drives. If I want to go out for lunch at a restaurant, or stop at the grocery store to pick up a few items, I'd want the insurance company to maintain coverage for those occasions. I'd like to be able to drive over to our son's house, or visit a friend and park in the driveway and still be covered. I think my insurance company would consider those situations as no bueno.

It’s raining cats and dogs here. We’ll probably have at around 24 hours of rain before it lets up. Bueno!

My coverage allows all that Jim. I can drive it to visit friends and it for sure stays outside when I do road trips. They of course require me to park at home in a garage. Duh.
