morning all. Well yesterday after noon he woke up and demanded to go to the bathroom, then with help from two nurses and a walker he walked across the room and went. Now we are not sure what to think.

this morning he is still untied and watching tv so things might be getting a little better.

Hopefully the effects wear off quickly for him.

Lets hope. I still don't think he will get back to his assisted living place alone and will need a higher level of care. I fully expected to be going to the hospital yesterday afternoon to say good bye.

Said good bye and morned Mom when she had her first stroke. Think that was the only way I could of handled being her full time care giver for 10 years. Was just making what was left of her and her time here as easy as possible for her.

Hump day again.

The GIS day at the state capitol was interesting. We may have to set up a booth next year. We talked to a couple of past clients. One of them was typical of a large organization and the "kingdoms" the different departments have. We flew their site, and the department that ordered it has not shared any of the data with any other departments. We asked the department if it is OK to share with the department that was at the convention, and they said it was OK in a few weeks. WFT? Like it is a secret data file or something.

Tomorrow we have a different group to go hang with. It is an evening event so we get to pay for expensive rubber chicken. Oh well, the cost of doing business.

Yeah, sometimes you have to spend it to make it. In the end you hopefully make more than you spent or have a good tax man.

David, if you were in Iowa I know a good place that does skilled nursing/skilled rehab to independent living through memory care. Even a Hydroworks pool for hip and knee joint rehab.

It is nice that they don't have to recover in a hospital. Not sure about the IT department though.

When Mom was in rehab from her 1st big stroke my nephew that is now CEO where I work visited her (his grandmother) every day. He didn't start until he had been in rehab a couple of days. While she was still in rehab discovered a male nurse there was one of his running buddies. Nephew didn't visit her after she got out of rehab, not even once over the 10 years before she passed. In fact, most all of her family treated her pretty much like she had already passed. It was was bad enough that she even noticed it.

morning all. Dad continues to improve. He still thinks he has been places and done things but those drugs are wearing off.

Next up tell him he is not going back to where we had moved him after mom died. They just don't have the level of care he is going to need.

For us to go to the dinner tomorrow night with the potential customers is 60 bucks each. Not crazy expensive, but not cheap. Heck the Porsche Parade has some meals that cost that much or more.

If we can make the connections and have a few new customers that will be good.

David, dealing with your dad is a hard part of being an adult. Just hang in there and do not let it ruin your health. My dad was mentally sharp to the end, but his heart was not working right after a heart valve replacement operation. He never got to go home after that operation. He walked into the hospital and carried his own bag in. The operation did not work right at all, and he could not breath without constant oxygen for the rest of his life. When he looked at me and said "son a man should not have to live like this" as he was lying in bed struggling to breath while on pure oxygen I knew he was not long for this world. He was ready.

right now he is off the oxygen and wants to know what happens next.

Hopefully he will get back to where he was with only some physical therapy.

He will get better and more mobile but the level of care he needs from here on out is not what he can get in the assisted living place he was in. It would cost way to much to get what he needs. He was not following the doctors orders and not doing what we have all been telling him and it got him in trouble.

yep and what have we learned from this?

When one reaches a certain age we don't bounce anymore we go splat.

Luckily Mom and I were already setup for us to take care of my Brother with MS. So was pretty much setup for me to take care of Mom. It was also great for my Boss at work to let me work from home too. Was good for him as well as me. He was out of office space and liked that he could call me with issues any time and not just in-office hours like the rest of the staff. So happy I am not part of the current cubicle farm.

all three kids do not have houses that he can live in. We all have showers upstairs.

Specifically bought my house to be wheelchair accessible to take in bro with MS.

Moved here in 1996. Started looking for an accessible home when first found bro needed a place to live.

back in 1998 we didn't need anything like that.
