....this may have been a good spot to show respect to anothers won battle...If you have great action, a chance to be a hero, and help people at the same time....then. what else is there?? Some things I have to respect.. I think I may be partially "Great"..My father told me so. He said the greatest part of me ran down my mother's leg...
.. ...BTW-black must always be kept groomed, IMHO.........R

Jack's car's awesome, no doubt about. And, I love my 911 as well. But the world sort of stops for me with 930s. However, the purity and value of a 911 makes it so I just can't bring myself to mod them out too much--plus really, it's too damned much money to buy and have fun with a 930. On the other hand, to convert my 911 is both senseless and expensive...why should I?
Why not breath new life into a 914 which would otherwise be pushed around under 89 HP by making it into a 914/6 GT type. Below is something from this website that really gets my mouth watering. I'm out hunting for a good project car for doing this right now, as I am retiring the 911 for mods It's a matter of cost. Put in a 964 engine bla bla bla...with the same kind of money, I can build a beautiful 916 replica with a 2.7 and NO SMOG equipment that will last me a long time and really spank out some HP. This is Caffee's 916 rep. Of course, when I do this one, I'm looking at bright yellow, bright orange, or FishCop blue. When I sit back and imagine driving that car around with its lightness and speed. And the look. I love it. It's mean.

Jack has a great website:
http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/CarLinks.html for those who may not have checked it out. This is where you get to see great pics of his ealry bodied 3.6 retro. I personally like the different tails\wings he has tried, I still go for the ducktail myself. So Jack, what are some of the latest things you've been up to?

Hey MMarsh, I dont have a problem with Mr. Jack I think he seems like a good guy. I just hate seeing a bunch of grown men acting like a bunch of kiss asses. I will never go away, I am like a bad rash, especially for people like you. To bad Jacks married, then maybe I could see a point in this thread.

Yeah, good fun! I wouldn't say we're "kiss asses" by giving Jack some well earned congratulations, I wouldn't even say "kiss my ass" (although I might feel like it). Dale Carnegie practiced some principles that may come in handy for you, BigB, in case you decided you would like to win friends and influence people.

What's wrong with folks kissing Jack's ass? I kiss ass all day long. I kiss my project lead's ass. I kiss my manager's ass. I even pucker up big and smile for the director of finance in his minions and kiss their ass as long as I need to.
If you ask me, learning how to seriously kiss some ass is MIA in our American Education system--along with math, reading, and science. A good grammar curriculum will feature a healthy amount of ass kissing. Generally though, most folks don't learn how to really do it until they're in the workforce, and by then a person's most valuable learning years have been wasted. My children, if I have any, will know how to kiss ass better than any other kids at their school. I promise. Kurt Junior: Reading: B Math: A- Puckering up and smooching like there's no tomorrow: A We can all learn a lot from good @ss kissers, so don't be afraid to lean over, pucker up real big, and smooch some ass once in a while. BUT, in all seriousness I didn't in any way see this thread as an ass kissing thread--BigBPainta went from somewhat tolerable to complete nuisance faster than WideBody's 3.6 hits 60MPH...but hey, we can't all be socially functional, can we?

Those are some interesting comments, Kurt. I spent a couple of years working for a major consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers. I saw more ass-kissing there than I will during the rest of my days (unless, of course, I go back to work there).

I am sorry you gays I mean guys see it that way, I am probably a social misfit, but I know ass kissin when I see it, and you guys are ass kiss'ers. Dont worry this is my last response you will be rid of me as spring is here and it is time to move on. I sincerely have enjoyed my time here but I have also come to realize this is a click of sorts and like Jimmy D I am a bit of a loner. I have never really subscibed to given head to get ahead, Kurt, I have fought many battles not to be a whimpering kiss as as you have confessed to being. Dont be afraid to put down the computers every once in a while and just drive.
Owning a porsche doesnt really include trying to be a main stream kiss ass does it? Maybe I should have gone with the Italian trash, maybe thats where the real men are. Good luck fellas and Godspeed. Very important Jack, I meant no offense to you, I admire you but never really felt the need to start a thread and pay homage either. |

If you think politics is ass-i-rific in the corporate sector, try academia. Nepotism, incompetence, and the Peter Principle are rampant. Add this in with a class of people with no accountability (tenured faculty), administrators that can't manage their way out of a wet paper bag, and fights over incredibly small pots of money and space. If you are at a small private liberal arts college, multiply by ten.
I believe it was Henry Kissinger that said "academic politics are vicious because so little is at stake." |

Hey, BigB. You have some rough edges on you, and that is fine with me (although I could certainly live without the lack of tolerance). Political correctness is a waste of time and humanity -- I like that you speak your mind without sugar coating. Ass kissing can be a form of lying through your teeth saying what everyone thinks should be said.
Then again, ass kissing may just be saying it plainly like it is -- call it "honest" ass kissing. Yes, Jack is a good writer. Yes, his car is nice looking and designed with thoughfulness. Why anyone would envy him though, I have no idea. We can all do the same thing he did. I respect his talents and let it go at that. Finally, don't let the blue meanies scare you off. This board has less flaming on it than most you'll find. Pretty decent posts most of the time.

First off, I'm not really an ass kisser. Anyone who reads my posts knows that.
Think about what asskissing is. It's lauding another individual for personal gain. What does anyone have to gain from blowing Jack? As though he'd turn round and say "You know, you guys are really great. So great in fact, that I'm going to buy pizza for everyone and have a lottery for my car!" Come on. People adore what he's done with the car. BigB(oner)Painta, the same guy who whined and cried because his inexpensive ebay tail had a crack in it, someone who obviously isn't man enough to break out the fiberglass and resin and repair it himself like the legendary Ferrari owners would (I presume from her comments above), went off on a tirade, identifying and rebuking the Jack Ass Kissers. For my part, I wanted to toss in a little tongue-in-cheek philosophy, and now I've been labeled the thing I sardonically labeled myself. Again though, a healthy kissing of ass can be good for the soul. And, it can be tasty too.

WOW, KurtB, I thought you were a cool dude. Are you having a bad day? I dont whine I fix. I got the tail for free. The guy tried to screw me and I shoved it up his ass. If you knew me you might say he's a jerk. But you would never say what a brown nose. I stand alone, again. No problem. I read'em like I see'em babe. I like porsche does that mean I have to act like a half fem, writing essay's on how this guys style is cool. |
