God I miss pheasant hunting. Pheasant all but disappeared in Michigan.

Back in the 70's and 80 they would almost close schools down opening day....all gone now.

Very nice!
I was out two weeks ago. The weather here is so nice down here, and dry which may not be so good, that it is really nice to walk in the fields.
Here is my pup on his first day, he has since moved up to pheasants.

Just out of curiosity how are you cooking them? I haven't been in a very long time so surely somebody has come up with some way to make it taste edible.

Good lookin hound Timmer.

Easy way for me was to roast them w/ a little salt and pepper rub. Take two tablespoons of drippings in 8 oz sour cream...carve breast as you would a turkey putting slices on heavy sourdough bread. Slather w/ gravy and maybe a Sam Adams or two...or a nice chardonnay. Dam...now I need to take the dogs to the pheasant club!

Family recepie is to cut the breast into bite size peices dip in egg batter then into cornflake crumbs. Kind of squash it down with your palm in the cornflake crumbs so it's really flat then brown it in a pan. Serve it on a bed of rice pilaf. Very very good. Legs go in soup. I make pheasant and veggie or pheasant noodle soup.

He does look a little like a redbone, but both pups are Vizslas.
Here they are on their couch after a hunt day and my set up in my wife's Cayenne set for hauling dogs she gets real pissed if I let muddy dogs in the front seat
