PM me your address and I'll send a few books your way.

I re-read Elmore Leonards 'Maximum Bob' and 'Freaky Deaky' this summer. Great fun.

I'll send those along.

Edit: I found this article and ordered the book. Looks great, I'll find out.

Books sent, Bob, a day late. Sent via the slowest boat I could find

There should be a book exchange here.

No wonder I like this forum - we like the same books.

FWIW these are both excellent reads.

Wow, you guys are still using brick and mortar books?

I finally got hooked into our local on-line (free) library consortium and haven't had a real book in my hands since May.
The consortium pulls resources from about 20 library's in Monmouth and Middlesex counties.
Downside - there is usually a 2-4 week wait list, but if you keep your place on the que, the books gradually appear. Can be borrowed from 1-3 weeks.
(Only available to card carrying library members, and setup on my Kindle Fire was free at the local help desk.)

I couldn't put The Martian down and read it in two sittings.

His next book is "Artemis". It's good too, although not as good at Martian. Still, it's worth reading if you like science fiction.

No worries...and your wife can flat cook.

I just can't get the read a book on iPad deal...probably stubbornness masked by a love of paging through the real item in my hands. I'll have to adapt I am sure.

My wife is good to go, reads everything on her Surface. She is also, since she has been commuting to the Pentagon a few times a week, downloading books on tape and playing them during the drive.

She just finished the complete works of Emily Brontë and Jane Austen in the car from her iPhone.

For anybody interested in WWI history, my former wife wrote a short documentary type book of her father and a friend's experiences during the war. They were not involved in the fighting, but were in engineering units building railroad access to the front. A good portion of the first third is devoted to reprinted texts of letters sent to one of the subject's fiancée, which give a feel for how things were at that time. It goes on to follow up on the characters lives after the war, and at the end revisits locations where they lived and worked during the war as well as contacting relatives. It's sort of a tribute to her father, has lots of old pictures and only about 190 pages long & available on Amazon for $15 in paperback. Title: Dad and Dunk in the Great War. Author: Jenifer Burckett-Picker.

The Sisters Brothers, by Patrick deWitt

Was supposed to be a Larry McMurtry-type, gold-rush-era story, but the writing talent is lacking.
Still a good read, but not as colorful as a genuine McMurtry.

Hopefully the movie will be better.
