GREAT episode!
I love it more when there's a lot of business content. Like DD's style....

So what's the matter with Peggy at the end of tonight's episode when she sees Don and hears that the firms are merging?
I assume the new Chevy they're going to promote is the Vega?

If there's no plan to move out of the city, she may be thinking about what her new role will be in the combined firm... and the fact that she's not sure she wants to jump back into the mass dysfunction factory that it could be with all her old coworkers. I was wondering which car also. Vega is a good guess. I wish I had made note of that project number they gave it (XP-88something)... I bet if it was searched, it would come up the actual concept.

XP-887 comes up Vega... see caption under first pic here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Vega "The Vega was conceived in 1968 to utilize newly developed all-aluminum die-cast engine block technology – the first sand-cast aluminum blocks had preceded the decision to build the car by two years. A relatively large displacement engine with good low- speed torque was decided on, with gear ratios for low engine rpm to achieve economy. Engine testing totalled 6,000,000 miles. A pre-test engine was installed in a Fiat 124 sedan for development of the aluminum block, while several 1968 Opel sedans were used for drive train development[9]"

Yep. I watched the episode with some non-car people and they were wondering what the new car was, Corvette? Nova? I explained that the show was always pretty historically accurate and the only possible all-new model in 1968 would be the coming Vega. It's pretty funny the way they are devising copy for it that describes it as powerful and stylish, they make it sound like a new sports car or something. It was really an ultra-economy car meant to compete with Toyota and VW. Definitely one of the worst cars ever made, a nutless monkey could have done better.

Peggy also smooched her boss and now seems to be having those--ahem--thoughts about him. That crappy apartment her hippie boyfriend moved them into isn't working out for her so I presume now she's going to make a change. Dump the hippie and go for the money. Can't wait to see how this company merger goes down with Roger, Bert, Pete (idiot Pete!) and the rest.
Another prediction: Don has a heart-attack and the neighbor operates on him and saves his life. The doc learns that Don's been boffing wifey but saves his life anyway.

"Gin and tonic?"
"Yes, if you don't mind." ![]() Plus, that whole scene in Roger's office as he was firing Burt. Too funny.

Loved watching Roger fire Burt--the guy they fired before. Now they have to deal with Pete, who seems to be headed for some kind of epic collapse.
