That sounds more reasonable. Last time I priced them $2200 was the best price I could find. My other issue would be this young (11 year old) girl. She would use up all my ammo. Again. This is her with her Christmas present from last year.

Great pic...nothing better than spending a day with the kids and teaching them how to shoot.

It's always nice to see someone spending time with their kids. They will always remember what you did with them not what you bought them.

After burning her 30-30 ammo up she went to the targets past the table she was using as a rest. They were stuffed animals at 25 and 50 yards. She went through a couple hundred rounds of .22, mostly through dad's nickel High Standard Double Nine revolver similar to the one below. Yes, she hit her targets sometimes.

My '50's era High Standard Sport King, one of the most accurate pistols I have ever owned. Used to use it for the rimfire legs of the old "2700" game.

The old Model 19 - hardly shot or carried since bought new 30-ish years ago. I don't know why, it's a great gun. I guess I'm more of a single action guy. That, and when I'm out in the woods, I like the caliber of my sidearm to start with a "4". Too big to conceal around town, too, so it just doesn't get out much.

Very cool, Henry. Great "period" piece, utilizing a lot of the mods done on old bullseye guns. Who did the work?

Both this 45 and the 22 were built by Jim Stewart by in the mid 70s.

22 Target guns

The High Standard guns are very nice, in fact, I bought one for my son and fitted it with a set of Lew Sanderson left hand target grips for a birthday present. My personal preference leans towards the Colt Woodsman pistols. The one on the upper right is a pre WWII first model target and the Woodsman Match Target on the upper left is a 2nd model also equipped with a set of Sanderson stocks. Both are quite accurate!

Jeff, that's quite a collection of Ruger #1s. I have 4 Liberty additions if you'd like to add to your collection.
All 1976, all like new, one new in plastic 30-06, one 6mm and two 7mm Rem. They could all be yours....lol

Thanks, Henry, but as you can see I have plenty of #1's right now. Great rifles.

I tend to be partial to the Colt Woodsman as well. I just picked up this Woodsman Match Target at the last Carol Watson auction. I've never shot a more accurate pistol, .22 or otherwise. I love the feel and weight of the gun.

Very nice! Now you need to search for some (original) spare magazines. The correct mags for you pistol will have a rectangular thumb slide rather than the round one. Unfortunately, the Colt mags have become expensive! Any original, nice condition MT magazine that you can buy for less than $100 or so will be a good deal!

The Woodsman MT has a neat feature. The chamber is relieved slightly so that you can dry fire it without damaging the chamber. As far as I know, only the Woodsman Match Target has this feature. Let's you work on breathing and trigger control.

I love the pics of the .22's. They are some of my favorite pistols.

Dad has one of those as well. That is the revolver I learned on as a young'un after the High Standard.

My original Ballard Pacific, manufactured in about 1877. Originally 40-63 caliber, but rebored and rechambered to .45-70 in the late '40's by an old gentleman and hunter who has since passed away. I bought it from his son about 20 years ago in very, very sad condition - the action would not even open, the barrel looked like the exhaust manifold on an old truck, the wood was rotted and cracked, etc. It had sat forgotten in the back of a damp garage ever since the old guy passed on.

When I bought it, I promised I would get it working again. To make a long story short, it has since accounted for several mulies (and one of my best ever - a non-typical 4x7), and it won a couple of mid range matches for me (500-600 yards, hence the sight base on the tang). As a matter of fact, it accounted for the last deer I took. Kinda heavy for me to lug around anymore, at about 12 pounds, but it sure is kind of an emotional experience when I do.
