I just bought a Winchester 1903 22cal simi-auto made in 1909.
I already own a Win 61 pump and a Win 63 auto so my collection of small bore Winchesters is close to complete.

I only shot it at about 25 yards because with iron sights that's as far as I can see.
It shoots OK at short range (25 yd) but struggles to cycle modern 22 long rifle.
As one of the earliest US made 22 semi, it was designed to shoot an earlier version of 22 ammo.

Here is some info about the special rimfire round for this rifle.

The .22 Winchester Automatic (also known as the .22 Winchester Auto and occasionally .22 Win Auto) is a .22 in (5.6mm) American rimfire rifle cartridge.
Introduced for the Winchester Model 1903 semiautomatic rifle,[1] the .22 Win Auto was never used in any other firearm. [1] It will not chamber correctly in other .22 rimfire weapons, nor will other .22 rimfire ammunition, including the very dimensionally-similar .22 Remington Automatic,[2] interchange with it. [1] This feature was to prevent use of black powder rounds, which were still popular when it first appeared, from being used in the M1903, resulting in powder residue rapidly clogging the action and rendering the weapon inoperable. [1]
The power of the .22 Win Auto is comparable to the .22 Long rimfire, and while it fires a heavier bullet, [1] it offers no performance edge on either the .22 Long or the very much more common .22 Long Rifle.[1]

Don't forget the Winchester Model 52s in sporter and target styles! The very early Model 52 Target models with the speed lock are a great compromise between a sporter and a target rifle. They came with great sights and a very nice trigger. The early sporters are a bit pricey, running in the $3,000 to $5,000 range. The later ones made in Japan can be had for around a grand. A really nice early (first model) 52 Target rifle will run somewhere around $1,000 to $1,500 or thereabouts.

The Schulz & Larsen model 54 free rifle was primarily designed to fire a 6.5X55mm round at targets 300 meters down range accurately.
A few like this one were built to fire a 6.5X57mm round in Palma competition. It was built to be accurate at 800 to 1000 yards with iron sights. What's unique about this rifle is that the thumb hole stock is ambidextrous.
Note the set trigger, you push the front trigger forward, then fire the weapon with the rear trigger. I tried to measure the pull and my gauge is not accurate enough. My guess, 12 grams. It has a 26 inch barrel that is 1 inch in diameter and the overall weight is 16 pounds. It truly is a monster. Perhaps even bigger than the Mark X Dave is building now.

Just added this one, a Colt Officers Model made in 1904. Chambered to fire both the 38 Long Colt and 38 S&W rounds. Still has about 80-90% original finish and the original fancy checkered grips. The serial number puts it within the first couple of months of OM production! Front sight is adjustable for elevation and the rear sight is adjustable for windage. Not too shabby to be 110 years old!

We had one at our range a couple months ago and it had been converted to semi automatic and it did fire 7.62x54 ammo. It fed from a belt and it took a retired Navy SEAL to show the owner how to load it and get the gun to cycle reliably. It was about as accurate as blunderbuss at 100 yards!

Handmade "mountain gun" except for the barrel.
