Something a bit different..............
 

All of the modern stuff is interesting and fun, but these are more to my taste. The top one is a Colt small frame .22 Lightning rifle chambered for the 22 Long (not Long Rifle!) round. The bottom gun is a Marlin 1897 Model deluxe rifle that works with .22 short, long or long rifle ammo. Both date to about 1900.

This design prevents combustion gases from entering the weapon's interior—a shortcoming with direct impingement systems.[10] The reduction in heat and fouling of the bolt carrier group increases the reliability of the weapon and extends the interval between stoppages. During factory tests the HK416 fired 10,000 rounds in full-auto without malfunctioning.

A unique little Colt
 

This is a Colt Model 1877 that was originally built in 1886 in .38 Colt caliber. Fast forward about 70 years and in 1953, a California gunsmith named George Matthews worked his magic on it, converting it to .22 rimfire. He also reworked the action, re-case hardened the frame, blued the barrel, cylinder and gripframe. Speaking of which, he remade the grip frame in the single action army style and then equipped it with a nice set of ivory stocks. I have a letter from his widow stating that this gun was his and that he did the work. I also have a copy of the 1969 Guns and Ammo Annual with this particular revolver shown in an article about custom guns. Needless to say, this one is one of the highlights of my collection!

had to take the kid and here friends shopping yesterday. as soon as we entered the store they ran off and i was left to my own devices for an hour.

wandered over too near the gun counter and... it got me.

Custom Winchester LoWall
 

This is a gun that I built about 35 years ago. It started life as a Winder Musket but by the time I got it the original sights were removed, the stock sporterized and had been reblued. So, with little or no collector value, I set out to build something useful. I had the barrel shortened and recrowned, the barrel relined and added the bits to make the trigger a single set trigger. Then, once the mechanical stuff was done, I bought a piece of walnut stock blank wood and set out to restock it. After about 6 months of work, this is what I wound up with. The finish on the wood is hand rubbed oil. The stock is fitted to me so that I can close my eyes, shoulder the rifle and be looking right thru the scope! The scope is a 4.5-20X unit with an adjustable objective lens. Turns out that this rig will put 5 shots under a dime at 100 yds on a good day!

Went to the gun club yesterday. Rained like hell. between down bursts ran out and shot off a box. This is my first 1911. So I don't have much basis for comparison. Feels good in my hand. Smooth action. Easy to aim. Doesn't jump much. Used the cheap ammo with no problems. I like it.

I've got a Remington 1911 R1 that looks just like that. Shoots like a dream, very clean, no trouble aiming or controlling recoil. Yeah, it cost a shiny penny, but golly, it's a treat.

Peter, the short one on the bottom? Springfield EMP 9 + 1 of 9mm It's a pretty neat little 1911. It won't run on grease it's too tight! One of my shooting buds laughed at a 3" barrel until his first shot hit an 8" ( 203mm) plate at 50 yards (47 meters) The all stainless colt is a worn out nag that won't run a magazine load with out a failure to feed, I have a new spring kit on the way.

Can someone give me a little info on this holster? Dad gave it to me and he didn't remember where he got it.
