It's an Ithaca made LeFever Nitro Special, worth about $500 (more if a 20g, much more if a 410).

Ithaca bought Lefever in 1916 and produced a cheaper "box lock" version of the original side lock shotgun which you have. Great field guns to be sure. I have a few original Lefevers ranging in age from 1891 (10g), 1902 (16g) and 1914 (20g). I just don't get out and shoot them all that much. Nice work by the kids!

Thanks. It is a 12 and I wasn't worried too much. The value to me is having the kids do hands on stuff. They like computer games as much as any kid, but they also hunt, fish and shooting sports. Both can clean a Texas Star even if it takes a while. At least they don't wait for it to stop.

Planning a different stock & grip, not sure what I’ll use as a sight. And a 20-rd drum magazine just for grins.

Pretty good bang for your buck at $600 (pun intended).

No on the rifled barrel, but I could use rifled slugs.

Tried to source a couple of extra barrels- one to shorten (to still legal) for home defense & another to rifle it.

Someone asked me the other day if a bump-fire stock would work. That would be fun.

You can reload the magazine instantly.

They share parts with ARs (if you happen to own one).

They share locations of buttons and controls with ARs (if you happen to own one).

Many AR upgrades and accessories will work with these.

This has been the holy grail of combat shotguns since repeaters were invented.

The fact that it uses AR furniture and is ergonomically close enough to be "the same" is just icing on the cake.

Since I'm somewhat of a traditionalist, I'd go for the Mossberg 590M (the mil-spec 590 plus the detachable mag feature)

Trigger from the "enhanced" LPK is nice, and cost no more than the standard LPK from most places. Additionally, there is the "no grip" option along with the option to add the Ergo grip (I'd order anyway) for $2 off...

The barrel has a MOA guarantee if using the Hornady SST ammo. And was dirt cheap (one half to one third the price of others I was looking at). Also got a 556 barrel w/ a MOA guarantee but that's for a different week....

Side charging upper lets me keep using the muscle memory the FAL has built over the years.

Just need to decide on optic... either take off sights and use a low power variable or keep 'em and add a red dot.
