I am also thinking about gearing down for the low chainring, because I ride up Queen Anne hill regularly. |

That Hooli is so cool! No doubt a riot fun rider.
Noticed the disc and made me think of these: TRP HYRD Cable actuated Hydraulic Disc Brakes. I've seen them on the new Diamondback cross. Curious if anyone tried these for a conversion. Makes sense in that there's no pad drag, no need to replace levers, no fluid lines. http://www.wigglestatic.com/product-...=430&h=430&a=7 |

1 lb from wheels? If that's doable, I'd sure do it. With the 20" rims, the acceleration will be like a dragster!
Really cool bike. Quote:

I like BF's but didn't want a foldable.

Sometimes it pays to visit the relatives (not often but sometimes ;) ). Stopped by to visit my brother this AM and walked out with a new frame for free. 2001 Univega Modo Volare with Columbus Thron tubes and a straight carbon fork. It will make a great fair-weather bike when I don't want to ride the vintage iron. Originally Campy-equipped, but I'm thinking a Shimano 105 11-spd groupset - tough to beat for $432!

Just picked up my new True North Cycles 29er. Going to beat the hell out of it in the morning at the Hydro Cut! one of the best trail systems in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. |

Byron...where do you find some of these fabulous bikes you post?!
Sent my Merlin frame out to TICycles in Oregon in June and they just sent it back! Eric and the crew were great to work with! Headtube replaced. The more I think about it, I will probably send it back in January for BB replacement. For now it will get Shimano Dura Ace 10spd build, carbon bars/stem/seatpost, and Topolino wheels. Before and after... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413038324.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413038349.jpg |

Thanks guys!
Friday is like Christmas for me! I can't wait! The bike was "roofed", headtube and top tube crimped back. Standard headtubes aren't used anymore and I didn't think about the BB till after they shipped it and I realized it's ENGLISH! I'll pick out a tasteful and light square taper 10spd crank and probably pair it with a BB that is something decent but not crazy if I decide after the first few rides to send it back for the upgrade. Cost: labor, materials, 3 month wait....$1,000.00. Mike have you looked into Independent Fabrications? NRD |
