Jeff, you might try bars without such a deep drop, compact drop bars are the rage now for a reason.
I have one of my dream bikes in transit-Colnago C40 in AD20. |

Rutager-she's a beaut. I have a Technos I've owned since new, and I don't ride it much now b/c of the 53/39, but can't bring myself to swap it because its original to the bike, hence the C40, which will get a compact carbon crank of some sort that's delogo'd so at least not to stand out.
|
Thanks Greg, look forward to a picture of your C40 when you get it.
I've never used a compact crank, have the 53/39 on mine too. What is the benefit of the compact? |
Old knees can spin it uphill :)
Higher rpm for a given power output. Yours is AD14, I mistyped, mine will be AD10 which is blue where yours is yellow. Love your original Record carbon group btw. |
I've started the warranty claim with Shimano and so far it sounds like it won't be a problem.
In the meantime I've purchased a 180mm Stages Dura Ace 9000 power meter left arm to replace the broken one. Now I really have too much data to keep up with! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503100681.jpg |
Got to love the Campy, right. I was really hoping they would have done a 75th anniversary group that was as beautiful as the 50th, instead they waited for the 85th and didn't look as special as I wanted.
...if I'm still riding when the 100th group comes out! Might need the compact in a few years. |

Somewhat on topic, my fun these days are vinti steel lightweights. Finally built up this Zunow frameset (1987 / 88) and now seeing action. Called the 'Trionic'. Love it and a dream rider on tubulars. Found my old clip-on TT bar from 1991. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4301/...15fd5f06_c.jpgDSC_1980 by carrera247, on Flickr |
Rode the Dairyland Dare (150k) last Sat. on this. '85 Basso Corsa on tubulars, era components, toe clips - cleats. Fun climbing the 7K + el. gain.

Winter will be here before we know it. Really into the fixed gear. Rat '66 Schwinn.

On the Guru we can try all types of different drops so I am looking forward to that fit to see how it goes... |
[QUOTE=intakexhaust;9705899]Cab fwd ... :D needed if you're runner. Though hows your climbing game? This is where the roadies smoke the tri's.
Climbing game is good on the Supersix... The Slice doesn't so steep nearly as well but it does well on moderate short climbs we find on rolling hills we ride/race on. The roadie is way more versatile, handles better etc. But the tri bike rips in aero when not steep climbing. The nice thing is I can now choose the best bike for the course to be raced. |

I got this helmet from my neighbor his grandfather owned a bike shop from 1900 into the 60s. Im trying to make out the brand it says Milan in the center and Made in Italy on the bottom half. The brand on top looks like a star SSPON then it fades away. Any ideas?

NOS! Don't know the brand, but it's cool! (And it's actually called a hairnet, that might be a better place for a google search!)
Great artifact! |
