Here's my 1985 mtb in action on the beach in hilton head this week, Imagine- 5 days of riding into the wind 4 miles and watching the sunrise, and then, turning into a 20 mph tailwind and riding a MTB 20-33 mph downwind for about 10-15 miles with a clear beach! Heaven!!!! :D (the first video is the upwind watching the sunrise- the second video is a SLOW 20 mph downwind video. Listen to the tires hum. 25-30 mph days- I was Clint Eastwood in firefox blasting through the yurals on the afterburners smiling- I was NOT holding a camera!!!:D :D:D:D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1501979975.jpg Video one- into the wind: https://youtu.be/iZITxWxkUj4 Video two- tailwind: https://youtu.be/vCwBD7PYehk |

Had to upgrade! Added SRAM eTap to my C-DALE Super Six High Mod Evo. The bike is amazing! Just getting back into it after my 2nd heart episode and it feels goooood!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502019974.jpg

How's it compare to di2?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Install was very easy and adjusting on the fly while riding is nice. I was talked out of getting the XG1190 cassette but I'm pretty sure I'm going to order it tomorrow. Rear shifting is fine but with the new cassette, I suspect it would be smoother and less choppy/direct on the downshift. Front works flawlessly. I've got to take my Merlin out again to feel the differences between the 2 systems. I think the di2 is faster BUT...I'll reserve final thoughts until I install new cassette.

I finished a ride this week, chatting with a neighbor and this guy rolls by on a sweet vintage MTB. I didn't know Waterford made MTB frames.

also found an old RockShox Mag21 needle inflator in my toolbox this morning. 25 year-old suspension technology at its finest!

I ran into a friend today who was wearing this T-shirt:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502588012.JPG He recently took a tour of Independent Fabrications, and the owner is an avid 356 owner and bike frame maker. I was loving the 356! |
Finally bit the bullet and bought a Tri bike. Most of my racing is multisport so it seemed like time.
Got this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502595830.jpg To go with current ride: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502595860.jpg Did a GURU fit on the Slice and very happy with it. Seems like a perfect fit after the first couple of rides. Going to bring the SuperSix Evo down for a GURU fit as well to verify/adjust how I have it set now. The Slice is definitely faster in aero and surprisingly easier on my back than riding the supersix on the drops. |
Nice matching set. Any plans to put the aero wheels to the TT? As with golf clubs, I've always wanted to get fitted, just never got around to it. I'd be curious if they make many changes to your SuperSix. The TT fit is more critical to achieve optimum aero & comfort.
I did a few sprints around Seattle & all of them were hilly, negating any TT advantage. It will be fun to hammer out the miles all aeroed out, you gotta get the helmet & glasses! I broke my right hand crashing into my wife on a MUP. She stopped suddenly in front of me to talk to the folks I was looking at to see what they were saying. Twelve mile ride back to the truck & an hour drive to the clinic. I'm 3 weeks into a 4 week cast. I'll be back on the bike in a week. |
That sucks about the crash!
Likely get another set of wheels for the Slice once I have more time on it to get used to it. Aero wheels are fun in a crosswind and when your hands are 5 inches apart crosswinds can be a challenge.. |
New cassette is great! It's a different feel from Shimano di2 but very accurate. Decided to put an FSA SLK carbon cranks I had and upgraded the chainrings. Bike feels great!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502844579.jpg

That SRAM eTap looks sweet. I keep thinking about it but worry I'd forget to charge it since I have a hard enough time charging my garmin.
Speaking of cranks, I had a weird issue a few days ago when my left dura ace 9000 crank broke: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502851290.jpg |
Sucks about the crank arm. Is warranty a possibility? Shimano is pretty good.
Wrapping up my last build of the year....I need to get back to the cars! Salsa Casserole, Campagnolo Super Record carbon cranks and shifters, Chorus rear derailleur, Brooks C15 saddle w/matching bar tape, Woodysfenders. 700x32 tires, super smooth ride... very comfortable, touring geometryhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503013373.jpg |
