Time to get the roadie ready for fall. Pulled the 60mm Reynolds off and move them to the tri brike. Installed the new 50mm carbons, new tubes, new tires, new pads, new chain, clean and grease the head tube and ready for early morning ride!

What is the "standard" hub for road bikes now?
E.g. is it 12mm x 100mm(front) and 142mm(rear) with through axles?

Anyone looking for a 2011 Campy Athena Alloy group with 3-400 miles on it? I'm not able to ride right now and I have it up for sell with a set of Alloy wheels for $450

This might be off the normal topic. Is there an online database to find part numbers for Specialized bikes? E.g. what is the pn for a 2017 Roubaix derailleur hanger? The one on the bike doesn't have a pn. I bent it pretty good in a low speed crash. A guy at Wheels Manufacturing asked me what the pn was so I could order the correct replacement. They have two that look very close. In any case back to the original question...

Why don't you contact Spesh and see if you can get an original?

I bought a Wheels hanger for my Kona Zing Deluxe, and made it fit after a couple of hours of hand filing. I needed the bike the next day for a 50 mile ride, or I would not have done this.
After getting the part to fit, I went to the Kona web site and found the proper hanger and bought a couple for the same price as wheels charged. They fit perfectly and now I have ample spares.

(I just checked the Spesh site, they don't make it that easy, but I'll bet that if you send them a message you can get a new, factory part.)

Good luck.

He recently took a tour of Independent Fabrications, and the owner is an avid 356 owner and bike frame maker.

I was loving the 356!

I saw a guy with a 356 with a Serotta on a rack coming home. We sere both stuck on the freeway so I was chacking out his bike as I know nothing about 356s.

That's a Bstay

Someone say Colnago? I may have shown the yellow one before? I just came across the blue C40 about 6 months ago, so I am slowly putting it together. I just need to adjusted to fit me. A pic of an old Merlin I bought from the same guy. Still apart with only few items on there.

Higher rpm for a given power output.

Yours is AD14, I mistyped, mine will be AD10 which is blue where yours is yellow. Love your original Record carbon group btw.

I always relate them to the Mapei (blue), Casino (yellow), and Rebobank (Orange).

I have a compact crank on one of my bike, but I find it to be a little small on the faster training rides. I am still riding 53x39 with a 12-23 10 spd out back unless I know I have to climb 5000' then i swap out freewheel to a 27. I am getting 11 spd but wan to try a 52x36. I think that's a great combo.

Rutager,

I have no idea how old you are, but what I have seen from some of the older guys I used to race with (they have 10 years on me), they are all in pretty darn good shape and are still very fast. I think if you keep riding you shouldn't have to give up too much speed as you age (unless if you are sprinting). I know guys that are in their late 50, to early 60s that are hauling ass with the young guys (I ride their training rides every Saturdays). I started riding seriously since 16 and raced for many years after that. Hung up my bike for 10+ years and started up again about 10 years ago. It took me some time to get back into the thick of things, but I am keeping up (sucking wheel is more like it) with some of the big dogs. I am 51 now, lots of the fast twitch speed has been lost, so I have to really work at it. Now, I like the long slight up hills that go on for a 4-5 miles. That's where legs are broken.

Ah hell, here's me checking out this thread. It took a couple years of hard work to get back into riding with the hammer headshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1511429841.JPG

Hi look,

You only have a couple years on me, I mostly commute these days; good distance, 20 miles each way. I'll do it through the winter except for snow and ice- have a rod in my lower leg to remind me not to ride on the ice! Even had the studs when I crashed.

Agree on the hills, being a good climber can drop guys quickly.

Best,
Rutager

Tell you the truth, I hate hills. Just hate them with passion. I like the long slight gradual grade that will grind the others into submission with a little speed. We take turns up front (when I am in better shape) to keep the speed up. I usually try like hell to hang on in places like that just so I can get through the ride.

Sorry to hear about your leg. No fun.

A trait not too uncommon among cyclists.

He angered the motorists behind him by unnecessarily holding them up, delaying them on purpose. That resulted in road rage and got him exactly what he was asking for, and most likely DESERVED.

You stupid pitiful little excuse for a man.

Wow. Even by your standards, thats pretty special Sam.

Good idea, I'll contact directly and see what happens - yes, they don't make it easy.
Thanks.

That c40 you have is strikingly similar. You'll love the way it rides, I was skeptical but the legend is true. That Merlin is also one of the finest riding bikes made, that or a Seven is on my bucket list.

I missed the Ti bike fad way back when I was racing. Because it was too expensive. I can buy a CADD 3 or 4 frame for 400 bucks and beat the heck out of it. Ti frames were 1500-2000 bucks. When the Merlin came up,, I had to buy it just to try it. I like the way it rides, super smooth but a little soft for my taste. The C40 has that typical Italian riding quality to them ( I rode it this morning but need to monkey with more adjustments). Feels similar to my Look KG 171 but stiffer which I really like. Still, I can feel a little more flex then I like on the rear when I romp on it. I have a Time. That thing is perfect, IMO. Stiff but the ride is just right, smooth enough but rough enough that it reminds me that I am not riding to Starbucks to hang out.

Hey, I love the Gammo stem on that Steel Colnago. I have a threadless Gamme Ti stem that I love to use on the C40, but I like the fatter Shimano Bar too much. It wouldn't fit the Gammo stem.
