A guy I know gave me his old Trek 1100 frame; Total cost less than fifty bucks; I dug around the bins for enough parts to make a single speed that I now call 'Ol' 2640' because it's perfect to ride the half mile to work (in any weather) and leave it chained outside all day (in any weather).

Thanks- Funny thing is, on my Jandd panniers (not pictured, and not the current hipster leather ones for glamour shots), there are TWO more water bottle mounts! Sheesh!!!!

JB's got the vinyl stickers. These Scwhinn stickers were originally a waterset sticker. There is a guy on ebay who repro's the waterset stickers and he has "claimed" he will have a new run on these later in the year, but who knows. If ebay guy doesn't pull through, I'm going to hit JB up next year!

At very least, it would save me from having to wetsand the green, and respraying the clear coat if the waterset don't work out.

Good idea. Of course dumb arse (me) stripped the paint without taking detailed shots first. I might be able to piece together stuff from the internet/ and before pics from my build. I would need to get height/width of letters. I could ask around. No biggie.

Another unrelated (but cool) thing about touring bikes is all the bags and stuff. It's fun making something where the typical weight weenie rules get thrown out the window. There are custom makers out there making pure artwork in this category of bike. Cool stuff.

I have a pair of brand new Reynolds Stratos DV tubular wheels with White Bros. hubs.

They have a base layer of glue but are new. QR 110/130 Shimano 10spd. $250. Bad news? They're 650c

I took advantage of some end of year bike sales and picked up a Trek Emonda SLR frameset. I’m glad to finally get rid of the chain stay brake caliper that is always gummed up and shave a little weight. I’ll be moving all the parts from my 2014 Madone over to the new frameset.

^hehehehe!!! I stocked up on them in the "Great sella italia slr seat market crash" of 2008! I had kind of forgot about it, and when I found it, it was like a present from past self to future self.

2 weeks later it was fully trashed by "present self"! Last week 50 miler in Nelson. Gettin' ready for the 200 mile gravel ride thingee in July.

Just (almost) finished a bike for my daughter as she heads off to college in the fall. It is a 1952 Schwinn. Original crank, hubs, frame, fork and handlebars. I did my first wheel lacing with new spokes and rims and then paint. She thinks it is pretty cool.
